Does she like to squat when she goes? We bought a kitchen step stool with a bar on it for our son. That way he had something to hold onto when he went. Between that and gummy bears he finally started pooping in the potty. It took around 5-6 weeks before he was consistently doing it (he is 3.5).

Thanks! What kills me is that she WAS doing it, but then stopped. We pushed her a bit too much to try and go before she went to bed, as opposed to waiting thirty seconds after we closed her door to yell that she has to go, and she quit after that.

Ugh. I am just envisioning next year, when she MUST be potty trained for daycare. She usually goes at night, so perhaps I'll be able to sneak her by if she's still not going...

She may just not be ready. My son just turned 4 and still doesn't always poop on the potty. We started potty training before the summer so it has taken us a looooooooonnnnnggg time! I get the frustration though. As hard as it is just keep offering but I wouldn't try to force it. That only made my son more resistant. We found that chocolate chip cookies was really the only thing that really excited him as a reward. We also overly praise and celebrate when he goes. Potty training seriously is one of the hardest things I have experienced as a parent. Hang in there!

I think she just isn't ready for it then. You can't force her to poop if she doesn't want to and it just causes issues. I think the best thing you can do is to ask her casually if she wants to poop in the toilet and if the answer is no, you accept it and ask again the next day.

I've had it with this. DD refuses to poop in the potty, and I feel like we've tried everything- put her in undies, have her go commando, have her go bottomless, bribes, everything. She was going consistently for about a week back in June, but then quit, and hasn't had success since then. She'll just prance up to me and tell me that she needs to be changed. When she's bottomless, she just poops right on the floor. Daycare says to just be patient, but I'm starting to get frustrated.

Advice? ETA- she's 3
