I’m sorry. Yes the groups can be very overwhelming. I would suggest if she can find the person she can talk to as an outlet. Maybe just one person with a similar story and a positive outcome.

@Boogs: I’m doing good. I don’t feel sick or anything. I’m waiting on enough time to pass since my last surgery to have my next one.

@Paddington10: a close friend of mine had ovarian cancer at 36, and learned about it a few weeks after having her first child. I'd be happy to talk about our experience if you'd like.

@Paddington10: fortunately it is. I looked in the mirror one day and noticed a lump in my neck. I was pregnant at the time and thought I was getting sick and something had swollen up. Physically I felt (and still feel) just fine.

Oh no @Mrs. Pickle, I am sorry! I do know thyroid cancer is very treatable at least. If you don't mind my asking, what were your symptoms?

I’m sorry for your friend. I don’t have any experience with ovarian cancer, but I was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I would tell her to not google and only get information from her doctor. I tried to join a Facebook group and promptly left it after a day or two. Hearing so many other’s experiences (good and bad) was too overwhelming. I’m hoping for the best for her.

Hi All,
A close friend of mine was TTC and beginning fertility treatments. During an ultrasound, a basketball-sized mass was discovered on her ovary that wasn't there a month prior. She had surgery. The tumor is malignant. It was determined that she has stage two ovarian cancer, and a very rare type with a not-great prognosis.

I'm wondering if any of you have experience dealing with ovarian cancer in people under 40. She just began chemo. Googling "ovarian cancer statistics" is highly depressing. I'd love any personal stories. Thanks so much.
