I've had them before and the pain sounds like what you are having. Mine have all left on their own. I did have one on each ovary during pregnancy. They said one was likely where I ovulated from. The other was gone by my 12 week US. Hope you feel better soon - it's such an annoying pain!

ETA: woops just saw this was old :)

I had a large Fallopian cyst for years that never caused me problems except for one episode of torsion, which was excruciating but it twisted back. They went ahead & removed it during my C section but otherwise it would have just continued to hang out.

@Snowdrop: It ended up not being a cyst. I ended up having a laparoscopy because they thought it might be endometriosis, but in the end it was an adhesion. Sorry I don't have any advice on the cyst-front. I hope yours resolves on its own. Good luck!

@mrs. 64: I know this is an old thread but what ended up happening with your cyst? How long did it take to resolve? I had an US today and they said I had a cyst on my left ovary. They wouldn't give loads of details but it doesn't surprise me as I've been having strong o pains on the left this month and geared up to O earlier but didn't, instead I've been having on of fertile cm and stark White opks... I think it's a follicular cyst (the moat common type)

I had two (one on each ovary) the year before I got pregnant with my LO. Unfortunately, there was really nothing I could do about them, except let them resolve on their own. I did routine ultrasounds every few months, and I had them in total for a little less than a year. They ended up going away about 2 months before we found out we were pregnant! I read that walking helps increase blood flow to your reproductive organs, so I started a daily walking regimen of 30 minutes/day. Not sure if it helped to get rid of them or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt! Around the same time, I cut way back on my caffeine intake to see if that would help too.

Hang in there! Many cysts DO resolve on their own! Ibuprofen and the heating pad helped me immensely on days where the pain was more bothersome.

I had one but had it surgically removed bc it was causing my ovary to torsion-cutting off the blood supply. They knew they had to do surgery when I was vomiting after I got anti-nausea shots.

I had one last year that I guess has resolved itself. I went to the emergency room for GERD-related pain and they ended up doing a CT scan of my entire abdomen, where they found that my entire stomach was inflamed (thanks, GERD) and that randomly, I had an ovarian cyst.

After becoming pregnant, I told the doctor about my cyst, and no one could ever find it on the ultrasounds, so I guess it went away on its own

I've had one. It was a dermoid cyst though, so mine had to come out surgically as it was never going to resolve on its own. My dermoid was painful sometimes, mostly when I would be due for a period or do a lot of twisting poses in yoga.

I've heard regular, fluid filled cysts can be quite painful when they burst but that that is normal. My OB/GYN said it wasn't unheard of to need stronger than OTC pain meds if they do burst.

Sorry you are in pain but good that you're having an ultrasound. I'm sure your doctor will be able to advise you about what to do if the pain gets worse.

Have you had an ovarian cyst (not the PCOS kind)? I've had a dull aching in my lower left abdomen area for 7 days. Last night it began throbbing. The pain is bearable, but bothersome. The throbbing continued today and I went to my gyn. She suspects I have an ovarian cyst and is performing an ultrasound tomorrow to confirm. However, she said there isn't really anything they can do if it is an ovarian cyst besides let it resolve on its own in a week or two. She does not anticipate that it is one of the small number of cysts that require surgical removal.

Does anyone have experience with this? Do I just have to wait it out?
