@caterw: My almost 7 month is eating 3 meals a day. For breakfast he has a bowl of cereal and a bowl of Yoghurt mixed with puréed fruit. For lunch and dinner he is having 3 oz of a fruit/veg puréed mix. He is also eating lots of puffs and mum mums and just can't seem to get enough. I am just following his cues, my DD never ate this much! I am still nursing 5-6 times a day too.

That seems like a normal amount of food to me as long as baby is eating it voluntarily. My LO was really excited about the novelty of solid food and ate a LOT at that age. She's still a good eater, but she'll definitely let me know if she's done/not interested now. I think regulating their intake is something babies learn to do if you let them.

My little guy is a big eater and it shows. He's always been near the top of the charts, and since his Dad and I struggle with weight I was concerned. Well, I brought it up at one of his well baby visits and asked if we should be restricting his calories...you should have seen the look his doctor gave me! I guess he thought I was nuts. So I'd say unless your baby's doctor is concerned I'd let her eat until she's full.

@thepicklemonster: hahaha cutting out the night feeds is my dream lol. I feel like she can't possibly be hungry overnight but apparently I am wrong. And yes she is like skyrocketing off the charts.

@Alba4: That's comforting- my big girl has never been a big eater so I didn't know if this was normal!

I wouldn't worry. I also have a bottomless pit of a child  . At that age he just ate and ate and ate. On top of ounces of solids, he would eat close to 40 oz a day of formula as well! He is now 11 months and 32 lbs. He only eats table food at this point, but he easily out eats his almost 4 year old brother. Give her whatever she needs... they are babies!

Wow, she must be off the charts! I think that amount of solids seems fine, my almost 8 month old eats around that much. But I'd probably try to cut the night feeds? I can't imagine she needs them.

I think you're fine, but you could always make sure to nurse before solids (I think for the supper one you are doing solids and then nursing right after), then you'll know she's getting her fill of milk.

I think that as long as the majority of baby's calories are still coming from her breastmilk / formula then you're good to go, most solid food just doesn't have the necessary balance of fats etc for optimum growth and development.

My 6 month old has been doing purees since just after 4 months (with the approval of her pediatrician) and is a great eater! Sometimes I worry that I am giving her too much solid food.

She usually gets breakfast which is 3-4 oz fruit purée with a scoop of plain yogurt (maybe 2T) at 730, snacks at lunch (a couple bits of avocado/ melon or I will put something in her mesh feeder), then dinner at 6- 3-4 oz veggie purée with oatmeal stirred in. I serve water with meals which she seems to really like. She also nurses at 5, 830ish, 12, 2, 4, 630 and does at least one night feed and sometimes two.

She was almost 23 lbs and 27 in long at her last checkup and currently wears size 18 month.
