I always fed on-demand and let her eat as much as she wants. But then again, she's never eaten more than 4OZ in a sitting.

I always followed my LO's cues and fed him as much as he needed. He was bottle fed breast milk, and often family members would chime in and say that he wasn't drinking enough (everyone is used to formula). Both set of grandparents have over fed him before and they soon realized their mistake when LO would spit up minutes later.

I think so long as you aren't forcing him to finish he can have as much as he wants.

We make him 6oz bottles and most of the time those are ok. But of he sucks it down and cries for me we will give him more.

I monitor how much he eats and I like to keep it in that range. He is between 24-28 a dayso I don't go over.
Sometimes he will take a 7oz and then for the rest of the day take 4 at a time. Sometimes he will do an even 5oz all day. At the end of the night it always happens to be in his range.
Your son, like mine, take hypoallergenic formula right? They say that milk will never cause over eating the way mormal formula does, because of its makeup. So chances are, if he ate it, he was hungry.

He turns his head or spits out the bottle when he's done otherwise, so I guess I should assume he would be no different for bedtime.

Thanks!

C takes around 6 oz during the day but 8oz before bed. I think it's pretty normal for them to stock up for the overnight stretch. I just let her eat. She'll spit out the bottle and push it away when she's full.

If they are not spitting it up, they are probably fine. I let both my girls free feed. M is bottle fed and at 8 months 6-8 os at a time.

@mediagirl: Yeah, he definitely is eating more the past week or so. Used to be right around 24 oz (plus solids) and now it's more like 28-30 (plus solids). I guess I'll just keep adding to his bottles to see what he takes!

I just let her eat whatever she wants (7.5 months). She usually breastfeeds but when she gets bottles, she drinks until she's full. Maybe he's eating more because he's more active now?

My son is 8.5 months old. During the day, he can take a 5-6 oz bottle no problem, usually 5x a day. I started giving him more before bed to see what he would take - last night he ate 7 oz no problem. He's small, so it seemed like an awful lot to drink right before laying down! He has never really over eaten before but I find that lately he eats so much more.

How do you know when to cut your LO off? Do you just let him/her drink as much as he wants?
