@Foodnerd81: haha, I hear you! Logan is too little to use the beach toys (only 8 months), but my set does have multiple tools and buckets, so hopefully we'll be good!

Yes to the sound machine, especially if they are used to it at home. Adults who don't have young children are so loud at night!!

And I'm sure you know to bring 2 of each beach toy- really 2 shovels and 2 buckets and you should be fine. God help you if you only being one shovel (in my experience).

Flashlight - we went looking for crabs at night on the beach
Small net (if you plan on trying to get crabs).

@ShootingStar: Oh yeah, don't worry! I'm planning on bringing like 2-3 changes of clothes for the kids, plus at least 2 sets of PJs. We don't have a monkey mat, but our beach tent does have a floor, so hopefully that'll work. Plus I have a large 6 x 6 beach towel for us to all sit on outside the tent.

I'd bring more than one change of clothes, at least for the kids. And I always bring our monkey mat with us because our beach umbrella/tent thing doesn't have a floor.

I would bring an extra ziplock baggies of wipes to bring to the beach - I've found that to be very helpful for our beach trips!!

And a couple of extra ziplock gallon bags for collecting of rocks/stuff (if your kids are collectors of stuff, like mine is!!)

@Mrs. Tiger: Good call on the crocs! And I'm not sure about the monitor - probably a good idea to bring it just in case. I don't know what the bedroom is like where they are setting us up. And yes to snacks in the car, gahh!

baby powder - it really -does- take the sand right off!
easy on/off shoes for everyone, when we went to the beach we took D's Keens and they were a huge pain, I should've brought his crocs.

do you need a monitor at your ILs? or toys? snacks/entertainment for the car?
