It's possible to go overboard with block feeding I think, so be careful. I think I overdid it and went From having an over supply to worrying if I had enough milk. I hope your LC gives you good advice!

@gilmoregirl: I'll try those, and doing three feeds in a row on each side (that'll be 9 hours without feeding on one side though!) I've also called a lactation consultant who I worked closely with with DS1. She should call back soon. Maybe she will have a good suggestion. I'll also try sage tea.

I made my oversupply much worse by pumping to relieve engorgement. I don't know how to avoid an oversupply though because I didn't do it successfully. I was pumping 10oz of watery milk per side when I finally took steps to reduce...Block feeding helped reduce my supply after just 2-3 days of discomfort, but I was more like 4 months out. Does ibuprofen or heat/cold give you any relief to get through it?

@Alivoo01: I get about 5 ounces when I pump for 5 minutes (with a hand pump). I can get him hind milk in the short term by expressing, but since it would have to be 2-3 ounces before he gets to the hind milk, it would make the oversupply worse in the long run. I think.

Could you pump/hand express some before nursing your LO to help him get to the hindmilk sooner? And for the side you don't nurse on, pump but not for too long (like 5-10 min)?

I had an awful oversupply with DS1, so from the beginning with this LO (now 6 weeks), I've been really careful (always nursing just one side, trying not to let him nurse for comfort too often). Everything was going great, but for the last week, my oversupply returned with a vengeance, and green frothy poops are back. I'm in pain, although LO is still doing well.

LO eats every 3 hours, so block feeding is challenging, but I've tried feeding twice in a row on one side, then the other. It's really hard to go six hours, though, as I'm seriously engorged after 2-3.

Any suggestions?
