All - I did lots of rocking and bouncing of DD (while she was swaddled) to calm her a bit and then just left her in her crib. She fussed for a bit but ultimately put herself to sleep for a good nap. But overtired baby = no fun!

@littlejoy: oh - I put her down before she was overtired. We're doing EASY so I've gotten good at telling. But I tried the zipadee-zip instead of swaddling and she woke herself too quickly and then was too overtired to go to sleep again for a while.

I didn't know about over tiredness ... Once I read about sleep/wake cycles (I believe it's 90 minutes at that age), it made the BIGGEST difference. It's so, so hard, but now that LO is showing these signs, you know that you can start recognizing it before it's too late.

And yes to the carrier! It's all that would work for our LO.

Would she sleep if you held her or wore her in the carrier? That's what I would do with my son if he was overtired.

Overtired babies = the worst. So frustrating. When DD gets overtired and totally shuts down her ability to go to sleep, we pull out the Lillebaby and snap the hood up. That's usually enough to settle her down after a few minutes of walking/bouncing. Good luck.

Ugh! DD is overtired this afternoon and now won't fall asleep. She's starting to outgrow her Velcro swaddled so we decided to try her in her zipadee-zips for her naps today. It worked fine this morning but this afternoon she woke herself up and is now overtired and won't go back to sleep. I know I kind of asked for it messing with her sleep but hopefully she decides to sleep soon.
