@littlehunny: If you have a sports bra that you don't use, just cut slits where you want the horns to go. Or buy a sports bra from Ross or wherever for $5. That's what I'm wearing as I pump right now.

@Mrs Green Grass: I didn't think I would need one since I am using a hospital grade pump that plugs into the wall so it isn't really easy to do much else while pumping. I pretty much look around on HB while pumping at the moment!

@littlehunny: Wait. You don't have a hands-free bra? No wonder you are going crazy! : ) It's a total must.

@sunshineandsushi: thanks for the tips! I think I'll have to look at getting a hands free bra.

@Mrs Green Grass: thanks for the advice. You are totally right, I was having a bad day yesterday, but today is so much better. I even had a shower, got out for a walk and a coffee, plus made lunch!

I spoke with the public health nurse today while I was getting the boys weighed and she said that any amount is good for them and not to stress too much about getting every pump in. If I miss one or two and they get formula for a day, that's ok. I think I can continue on as long as I don't put too much pressure on myself :) thanks everyone!

My advice is to not make any decisions for a couple of days because often you hit a rough spot and then things get better. (I've been ep'ing for almost 5 months, but no twins.) But after that, figure out what will cause you the least stress. If pumping is too difficult with twin (which I'm sure it totally is!), be happy that you gave them breastmilk until now and switch to formula.

One of my blogger friends dealt with the same issue. I can't find the exact post, but here's her blog if you'd like to look for it:

For me, I've found that the best time for me to pump is while I feed my twins. I set both up in their boppys, hook up my hands free bra and start my pump	then feed them their bottles.

This doesn't address the part about getting out of the house, as I haven't really handled that hurdle yet, but this routine works well for us at home.

@googly-eyes: thanks! I do feel like I need more time with the babies rather than always trying to get a pump session in.

@wheres_c: you worded it perfectly... I feel like a slave to the pump. It usually is the first thing I'll do if I have a free moment, but there's so many other things I'd like to do, like shower maybe lol? I worked so hard to get my supply where it's at so I think that's partially why I feel so bad stopping.

@Mrs. Bee: thanks for the info! That's great to know. I might be able to reduce my pumping sessions and only do it when DH is home.

@Running Elley: that is exactly how I've been feeling! I want to enjoy them while they are this small and not worry about how much I'm pumping. I'm glad to hear you're happy with your decision!

I TOTALLY understand this. We had a lot of issues with breastfeeding and for awhile I exclusively pumped. It was so hard. I felt like I never got any happy time with LO because I'd feed him and then pump while he played and then it would be time for him to nap and repeat. I thought I was losing my mind!

I didn't quit BF for that reason but LO is exclusively formula fed now and I had/have a lot of guilt about it. Bottom line- I'm MUCH happier now and I'm enjoying my son's infancy so much more. That's what helps me get through the guilt.

Hugs!

my pediatrician told me that 2 feedings of breastmilk a day would give almost all the benefits. maybe you could cut their breastmilk feedings from 4 to 2 and see if that's more manageable?

i can imagine how tired and stressed out you must be with twins so don't beat yourself up!

Aww dont be so hard on yourself!
Im in the same boat, although only one baby here.
I dont produce enough so supplementing with formula.
Originally I was pumping 3-4x day during the day and I felt like a slave to the pump.
Now Ive cut back to pumping 1x day. I let DS nurse at night, or if he wants to in the day, but he's probably 75% FF and 25%BF.

I feel good with that decision because he got mostly breastmilk for the first month of his life, and he is still getting some now.

Honestly I stopped gradually but stopped completely by 4-6 weeks. I still feel guilty sometimes but I KNOW it was for the best. With twins making it to 3.5 months and still mostly feeding breast milk that is a great accomplishment. Sometimes having time, energy, and smiles for baby (BABIES!) is more important than breast milk, IMO. So not really any advice but I just wanted to say I think you're doing great you'd still be doing great on formula...twins are lots of work!!

My twins are 3.5 months old and have been fed a combination of breastmilk (all pumped) and formula. I'm currently doing 4 of their 7 feeds with pumped breastmilk.

Over the last few weeks I have been feeling totally overwhelmed during the day when my husband isn't home to help out as it takes me 2-2.5 hours to feed and change the boys and then pump afterwards without him home. They are eating every 3-3.5 hours so by the time I'm done it's almost time to feed them again. I have also been feeling stuck at home as I don't want to bring my pump along with me everywhere I go. I feel like I don't get to do anything for me anymore.

I usually try to pump when they are napping, but they somehow are able to sense that's what I'm up to and they wake up. I have been considering giving them formula for my own sanity although I know that breastmilk is so much better for them. I've been feeling so guilty for even considering it, but I think it would make me a better mom since I would have time for myself too. I'm not sure what I'm looking for here as I know it's a decision that only I can make.....are there any moms out there that have stopped breastfeeding and if you felt guilty about it what did you do to feel better?
