I had one really mature follicle and several sort of ones when I triggered. Dr wanted me to trigger at night so I made DH watch the video three times. :grin: My nurse took a sharpie and drew a big circle in the area that the shot needed to go the morning of so that took the uncertainty out.
My IUI worked the first try. I was convinced I had twins bc my initial beta and subsequent beta numbers were far above the singleton range but there's only one in the oven. :wink:

I had four follicles for both of my IUIs. I released all four both times. I did my own stomach shots, but the trigger release shot was done by a nurse at my RE's office. I also had 6 ultrasounds for each IUI cycles, including on the days of the IUIs. I was so worried about having quadruplets, but looking back the worry was a waste because neither IUI worked for me.

ETA: Good luck to you! IUI works so well for so many people.

I don't know what the odds are of twins, but the month I got pregnant I had a 17mm and 14mm when I triggered. And only one egg was fertilized. We were really anxious to find out for a few weeks though.

@AmeliaBedilia: This is what I used - http://www.freedommedteach.com/eng/videos.html?play=ovidrel

I'm not sure about the chance of twins, but honestly, that wasn't my main concern. We just really want another baby and are willing to play with the odds. I think that they will both end up releasing, but like @bluestriped bee said, one might not be mature and therefore, not fertilize. But, it could catch up by Friday. It's really a crap shoot..sorry :bummed: I know it's hard, but try to trust your body and that your RE knows what he/she is doing.

@AmeliaBedilia: dominance of a follicle refers to their growth rate which is why one is bigger. But they will both release and they could both have mature eggs but the chance of twins is very low.
ETA: First IUI I jad 4 follicles and none took
2nd time we ended up not doing the IUI, but I had 3 follicles release and only pregnant with one baby!

They should release both of them with the ovridrel. I had 3 follicles for one of my IUI cycles. Unfortunately IUIs didn't work for me.

As for the shots, I know for the IUIs, I took the ovridrel to my office and they did the shots for me. For my retrieval, I can't remember when I took my ovridrel shots (I needed 2 per protocol.)

@NorthStar: The link would be great, thanks!

I vaguely remember him saying something about how one follicle often becomes dominant. What are the odds of both follicles releasing, and how likely is this to end up as twins? I go back and forth between the health risks of twins, and then thinking how great to get two without having to go through this again.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm not sure on the likelihood, but I did my own shot. Did they show you how to do it? If not, I can give you the link for the video I used to show me how to prep the location, get syringe ready, etc...

You will release both. That's what the ovidrel does. It doesn't mean both are fully mature eggs or viable but you Should release them both.

DH did one and my mom did the other. I couldn't do it.

CD9 is today after Femara 5mg, and I had two follicles- one 18mm and one 16mm, both on the right ovary. I'm supposed to do ovidrel CD11 in the evening and IUI the morning of CD13. He said I don't need another ultrasound. I forgot to ask what the likelihood of ovulating two follicles is- does anyone know? Also, if you did ovidrel, did you do the shot yourself or did DH?
