SO the gyn said that everything physically looks fine (I had had an ultrasound done back in August when the pregnancy test came back positive). He thinks that I am one of the "lucky" few who can really feel ovulation. He said it can be a blessing and a curse, but the only way to keep from feeling that pain once a month would be to go back on bc, but since we're TTC that's not exactly an option.

Good luck, I hope your dr's will be able to find a way to help you feel better. I had 2 dermoid cysts removed about 3 years ago, and I was amazed at how much better I felt!

It definitely feels like a real issue. If self-diagnosing is a thing, then I am diagnosing myself with "thin" PCOS. I think this because

my cycles are usually around 35 days,

in August I tested positive for pregnancy and the ultrasound showed cysts on my ovaries (lost the pregnancy three days later... the whole reason I got tested was because we had sex the night before and I felt that ovulation pain... the next morning I was in extreme pain after FMU so I went to the ER and had the urine test as a standard thing... positive urine and blood for pregnancy, then period three days later),

and painful sex during ovulation (maybe cysts bursting? who knows).

The reason I think it's the thin version is because I am physically thin (5'3", 105lbs) but I have had some chest and back breakouts since getting off of the pill in June.

I guess the only issue is that it is only too painful to bear during sex RIGHT WHEN I think I am ovulating. So the night my opk gives me the smiley. This is why I can't tell if this is a real issue or not.

I would go with the gynecologist over the pcp. They are used to dealing with those types of issues. Good luck getting some answers!

I am wondering if it is endometriosis or maybe even PCOS. I tried to schedule with a doctor today, but the soonest I could get was tomorrow with my pcp and Friday with a doctor who specializes in gynocology. I am wondering if the gynocological doctor would be the appt where I would receive more immediate answers.

I have ovulation pain as well, but it doesn't necessarily hurt more during sex. I agree with others, call your doctor and have it checked out.

I think you should speak to a doctor. Pain during sex (especially "unbearable" pain) is not normal.

i agree with @septca. i don't have experience with endo, but i know having sex can make the endo pain worse. i did have a hemorraghic cyst that would be painful at the same time every cycle, usually around ovulation. but it was more of an ache and didn't get worse with sex. when i have ovulation pain, usually its more like a cramp (like the running kind), and it usually only lasts for maybe an hour tops.

I agree, you should definitely talk to your doctor about it, it could be a cyst.

Orgasm while I am ovulating can be painful for me but I also have very strong ovulation pains that require motrin! Seriously, they are worse than my period cramps!

No. It sounds like you may have a cyst or endometriosis on your right side. Each month, both ovaries produce follicles, which causes both ovaries to swell. Which side produces the egg each month should alternate, so the fact that you are feeling the pain on the same side each month makes me think you have some sort of growth on that side that is causing you pain when your right ovary swells.

I have endometriosis that is mostly growing in and around my right ovary and tube. Before I had it removed, I experienced excruciating pain around O and during BD on that side.

I would definitely see your doctor - they will likely do an u/s to see if you have a cyst or fibroids on that side, and may ask you some questions to see if you have risk factors for/symptoms of endo (family history, heavy periods, painful periods, etc.). Unfortunately, endo can only be diagnosed with surgery - it won't show up on an u/s. Not to scare you, but I ignored my pain for a really long time while TTC - turns out that both of my tubes were blocked and I needed to have surgery to remove the endo and clear one of my tubes (the other is shot) before we conceived. I wish I had listened to my body earlier - it would have made TTC shorter and I wouldn't have had to go through so much pain.

I would think it's not normal, but ask your doc? When I've felt ovulation pain, it's like a very subtle one-sided ache. I don't notice any worsening pain with sex.

Does anyone else experience this?

I feel ovulation pain every month in the area of my right ovary... and when having sex (around the time I am ovulating) the pain becomes almost unbearable. Every time the penis goes in, it feels like someone is punching my ovary.

Is this normal?
