DD (22 months) probably drinks 10-15oz plus about 8oz of milk. :bummed: She eats her weight in fruit though, so....

Oh my gosh that's a lot! We need to be better at offering lo water at home, we always offer milk... on daycare days she drinks more, maybe a full straw cup? I have no idea... not enough!

Coconut water is also helpful w constipation, btw. Lo loves it

I have heard that a good rule of thumb (for LOs and adults) is weight divided by two. So my 24 pounder should technically be drinking at least 12 ounces per day and that is probably about what she drinks. At home we leave a cup of water around and ar daycare both her snacks are accompanied by water.

My 4 yo is obsessed with water, it's the only thing he will drink, which is just lucky for us! He probably has about 50-60oz a day I would guess. I can't believe they said 96!!!

What about watermelon? I have no idea how much B drinks but unless he's downing litres at daycare it definitely isn't 96oz. I'm also not drinking that much.

I feel like she only drinks about 10-15 ounces of water at home each day ... then I assume she probably drinks about the same at school. So, 30 ounces total??

@Bao: will she eat radish or celery? That's what our doc recommended. It's pretty hard to get a toddler to eat them, but they do help.

That seems crazy! Our pediatrician recommends that the number of glasses of water per day matches the child's age - so a 1 year old should be drinking 1-8 oz glass of water per day, 2 year old should have 2-8 oz glasses (so 16 oz total), etc. By that count, your 4.5 year old should be aiming for 32-40 oz per day. It must be because of the constipation?

ETA: This says what I was trying to say a little better, haha: http://www.choc.org/programs-services/urology/how-much-water-should-my-child-drink/

Uh definitely not 96. Probably 24 on a really good day. He probably has 24-36 oz of milk too.
I'm not good at drinking water and I know it's partly my fault he doesn't have as much as he should. I just forget.

@Mama Bird: well I know she's trying to help her with constipation issues but she definitely said 96 oz because I must have given a look or she could see it on my face because she goes "I know"...then I asked for tips on how to get that much in and she said a prize chart. But really that's not going to happen that's way too much

Whoa, 96? That can't be right, that's like 12 adult glasses!

My oldest probably gets 32 oz and he's fine. The baby gets 20-something and it's clearly not enough, she's constipated all the time. I can't get her to drink any more though. We went though this phase with DS too, so I'm waiting until she can understand that her tummy problems will get better if she drinks, and giving her fruits and soup in the meantime.

How many oz would you guess your LO gets per day, and how old are they?

My 4.5 year old has been having some constipation issues so we took her to the doctor and one of the first things the doctor asked was how many oz of water does she drink a day. I had NO idea, would probably sounds terrible. She suggested she get 96 oz a day and I tried to not let my jaw drop. I know she doesn't get anywhere near that. I barely do!
