@Penny Lane: @BabyBoecksMom: Thanks for the tip on getting them to turn their heads a little. Sometimes I can sneak it in when her head is turned far enough so nudging her cheek might do the trick when it's not. I'll be trying it tonight during her inevitable 4-5AM wakeup.

Thanks for all the advice ladies! She sleeps great on her tummy (and hasn't slept on her back for more than a few minutes ever since the first night she rolled over) but it's been a challenge figuring out how to soothe her all over again since all our usual methods didn't work so well without her on her back.

So far if she'll tolerate sleeping on her tummy (been rolling just over a week now, and definitely a paci sleeper) she is "out" enough to not use her paci, or sucked it up enough she's not losing it. If we're putting it back in, we've flipped her on her back already as previous attempts and paci back in while still on belly.....no way.

I live for the day she can flip herself back so we can paci wean, but right now I just don't feel like it'd be fair as she ends up on her belly, stuck and without paci! Ugh!

Like @Penny Lane said, I would just touch it to her cheek and then she would nuzzle towards it. Sometimes we would flip her back to her back, pop the paci in and she would roll back on her own.

@lindseykaye: I kinda pull on his available cheek to open his mouth a bit and slip the dummy in. Sometimes if I just put the dummy near his mouth he'll open up for it

ETA: dummy = paci, lol

LO is 4 months old and has been sleeping on her tummy for a few weeks - ever since the first night she learned to roll over back to belly.

When she was on her back and swaddled, we were sometimes able to help her fall back asleep during night wakings by giving her a pacifier. Now that she's on her tummy though, I can't figure out how to pop it in without making her SO MAD. Even then, she either spits it right out or starts screaming more because I messed with her trying to put it in. I'm not ready to sleep train, but I miss the option of giving her something to help soothe herself back to sleep. Right now the only thing that gets her back to sleep is to be picked up, nurse and then be cuddled back to drowsy before going back in the crib.

If you have a tummy sleeper, can you give them a paci during the night? How do you get it in that little mouth when they're turned over? Or, should we just roll with this and then we won't have to paci wean at night?
