Yeah, I think you have to give it a try and see if she can keep it in. Wouldn't want her getting premature wrinkles later on in life from using a too heavy paci! just kidding of course, but I always wonder about that since DS is such a heavy binky user even now at 18 month as we are trying to wean him off...

Like others have said they are a little bigger/tougher. But that also makes them a little heavier. LO still loves her soothies and refuses to take the 3+ months at almost 6 months. (Used to be labeled 6+ month size)

@Bluebonnet: My LO stopped liking the soothie pacis a couple of weeks after we brought him home. For the longest stretch there, he wouldn't take a paci. After one night of rocking with Daddy, he took the Avent pacifiers and have since.

LO never liked the 6 month + size paci (even at 8 months old when we got rid of the paci). She only used the soothie pacis they use at the hospital.

We're still using the 0-6 month Avent pacifiers. We haven't moved up by the months yet. I didn't know about the tougher silicone thing. I need to steam clean all of his current pacis because they all fell behind the crib over the past two nights.

I agree with @Bao. The only risk is it being too big for her right now; she'll let you know if it's uncomfortable. I asked this of my pediatrician at one point and he basically called the different sizes a scam to get parents to buy more pacifiers. I wouldn't go that far, but I'd say that if she is ok with the 6+ month size now, then you're good. :)

I thought they were made of a tougher/thicker silicone for the older age when their jaws are stronger and/or they have more teeth, but I could be wrong.

DS did use some 0-3 (I think that was the age range on his) past that age but I don't think we did it the other way around. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in. Cute idea with the name paci!

You could give them to her, and see how she does. My LO is 6 months old though and she HATES the 6+ month ones. They are just too big for her little mouth.

Is it a big deal to follow the age ranges for pacifiers? I just bought M some MAM pacifiers with her name on them for day care. They have a paci box for each child and I'm sure they are diligent but I figured having her name on her pacis would ensure hers doesn't end up in some other kid's mouth and another kid's paci doesn't end up in her mouth. Anyway, the pacis came in either 0-6 months or 6+ months. She's 3.5 months so I went ahead and bought the 6+ months because I didn't want to have to retire the pacifiers so soon since they weren't cheap. Do you think it's ok to give her the 6+ month pacis early?
