@Silva: Me too! Definitely starting earlier next time. I was worried about nipple confusion, but I don't think it would have been a problem because breastfeeding went well for us?

LO started having one when she was about 5 weeks, and that was because she was using my boobs to comfort suck. She stopped using it around 6 months or so.

I started from day 1 because C needed 'suck training' according to the LCs at the hospital. He has NEVER taken one for more than 2 or 3 sucks, but nurses just fine! Weird. I'm so glad they found something that soothes her and she naps!

We waited and she never took it. Maybe in the car a few times. I will start much earlier next time!

We used a pacifier from pretty early on and it was a lifesaver. M is 11 months and hasn't used it for a long time, but it was my secret weapon early on. I hope it helps you!

DD is 13 weeks old and started daycare this week. I discovered today that they have been successfully putting her down for naps using a pacifier! We did not try a paci until she was four weeks and she just would not take it.

Huge win because while I have been nursing her to sleep, she always wakes up when I lay her down. Had to share my success. If you waited to try a paci after 4 weeks, did it go well?
