I don't even know what to do! It's her lovey and the only thing that comforts her. She's 18 months (almost) and I'm just not ready (or willing) to take it away from her yet. He was sick and so congested that he couldn't latch on for more than a second or two and just got frustrated and stopped trying. I wasn't pumping at that point, so that ended up. With a stuffy nose and a bunch of teeth coming in, he couldn't suck on it. I think it actually started getting on his nerves and he'd fling it in frustration. So I stopped offering it and was surprised and how easily he gave it up. I guess he developed a negative association with it. He was 15 months old at the time. She's done fine. There have been times she's cried/screamed but not as much as I anticipated. I tried poking holes in the pacifier and she didn't notice a difference.</p> <p>The first night, she went to sleep immediately. The first nap without her pacifier she cried for an hour. How long did it take? </p> <p>Our pedi told us she'd like to see it completely gone by the time he turns 2, so we have 6 months or so, but I have no idea how to approach it. We've taken it away except during naps/sleep/long car rides. He won't sleep without it. He screams if he wakes up and has dropped it. I'm so nervous about trying to put him to sleep without it...</p> <p>Any tips? </p>
