Mine has never gotten soap in the nipple ... maybe Avent ones are sealed better than the nuk ones.

I don't have a dish washer unfortunately, but that seems to be the key. For those of you who wash with soap and water, how do you get the soap out of the nipple? Mine always seems to get stuck in there.

I haven't had any issues keeping my (Avent) pacifiers clean. I just wash them once a day in soap and water and toss them in the sterilizer every few days to a week.

@TurtleDoves: I have a few unopened packs too! I bought a bunch when they were buy 1 get 1 free. Too bad my DD doesn't like pacifiers that much. But they were cheap so I dont' feel that bad about buying them. I can always give them away.

@Bao: try what @banana: does. I too use Avents and after they got residue from the dishwasher on them, I started washing them by hand then putting them in the sterilizer.
My plan is to pretty much get a new paci every couple of weeks because they're cheap. I still haven't opened the ones I got at my shower because of this...they can't stay clean fir too long.

I ran my Avent ones through the dishwasher and they got a bunch of white residue in them :( I now just run them under scalding water.

How do you keep your pacifiers clean? I boil mine nearly every day but it seems the inside of the nipple always has white spots and there is always hair or fuzz around the base. It makes me gag trying to clean them off. My son will only take Nuk pacifiers. I tried the one piece molded rubber (gum drop, i think) kind but he refuses to suck them hard enough to stay in his mouth.
