M is just over 15 pounds by now, and I'm wondering the same thing. I have a bad back, so I don't know how I'm going to cope with him moving down to the bottom level (we have no space for a real sized crib in our bedroom right now, so will have to continue to use the pnp)

@dreamocracy: the Rock N Play sleeper is pretty inexpensive, easy to fold up when not in use and was high enough to reach over to him next to me in bed.
- as an alternative to purchasing a mattress, which isn't recommended with a pack n play.

Yea I kinda ignored that warning since I saw so many great reviews on the mattress I bought from Amazon, and she sleeps soooo much better on this mattress!! I can see how less convenient reaching down would be if they are in the bottom section. Plus it makes Me feel like she's on the floor :(

@MrsLilybugg: I was considering it, but it seems much less convenient D: I usually nurse her to sleep on the bed and then just have to lean over to put her in the pnp, and if she is rolling around looking for her pacifier I can easily just reach over to give it to her lol. I considered getting a mattress for the bottom so maybe it would be a little bit higher and more comfortable, but I am not sure because there's a warning on the side saying not to use mattresses @_@

I think I'll use the bassinet till it starts to sag or the seams look like they are wearing - right now everything looks normal!

I was wondering the same thing!! My LO almost weighs 15 lbs but I am nowhere near ready to have her sleep in a different room. What about removing the top bassinet part and having them sleep in the lower 'play pen' area? I bought a mattress (3" dream on me" I think it's called) so I think it'd be comfortable. Is that unsafe??

My daughter sleeps in the pack n play next to my bed and I'm not ready to move her to her crib in her room yet. She has been using the bassinet part of the pack n Play because it is so much more convenient for me to reach her that way while I am in bed and to put her down while she's sleeping. However.. She's definitely over 16lbs and the pnp says that the bassinet should only be used till 15lbs. It doesn't sag at all or anything and seems fine to me, I really don't want to stop using it..

Anyone else all use the bassinet part after 15lbs?
