I had a fancy one and we didn't use any of the attachments.. The newborn napper is not recommended because of SIDS recommendations and the changing table we used but we easily could have used another surface and it did lean. Also, after about the three month mark it started to sag... (We had a Graco but I think they all do this!)

We had the same issue with the changing table as @Mrs. Polish: and @autumnlove: I ended up changing him on our bed. The one we had also included a bassinett (I think they called it a "napper") that he sometimes used for the first month or two (when he slept in there, which wasn't actually very often, he mostly slept in our bed). In hindsight I would have skipped those two things and just put him in the bed part. We had a mattress pad thing covered by a sheet on ours.

We have the Aprica one from Babies R Us and I really like it! Very easy to assemble.

@Mrs. Polish: That's good to know about the attached changing table. Thank you!

@Weagle: Good point! :)

@skipper2010: My LO had no problems with it and she slept in there for 4.5 months. We are planning to use it for Baby 2 who is arriving in a few weeks.

@Mrs. Polish: I HATE the changing table too...we had the same issue with LO rolling to the side.

@skipper2010: We went for the PnP with the attached changing table, and it was a huge waste of money for us. It leans in and the baby rolls to the side. I would pick one without that if I had to choose again. I know it isn't what you asked, but I think it's worth noting.

@skipper2010: No problems at all. Honestly, I think babies will sleep pretty much anywhere. We just think they're uncomfortable because we would be.

DS sleeps in a pack and play at my mom's house for naps 2 days a week. I think she got like a thin mattress pad thing for it? It's not crazy fluffy that I worried about suffocating or anything and she puts a tight sheet over it. Also, DS slept in a pack and play for the first 3 months and did fine with it the whole time.

I do agree with pp's that a basic model is fine. That's all we need for it and we love it!

@autumnlove: @Weagle: Thank you both! That makes sense to just get the most basic model as we'll only be using it for a few months anyway. Did your babies have any trouble sleeping on such a firm mattress?

What @autumnlove: said. All Graco PnPs are the same as far as the mattress goes. I agree with getting the basic model. We did that and had no regrets. I've had do many friends tell me that they never used the extras, and they hate having to find a place to store them now.

I think the mattresses are the same on all Graco PNPs and some just come with more frills. I would recommend a basic model! I never used the mobile, sound & vibration or newborn napper on ours.

My baby is due in August and I'm looking into getting a pack n play with bassinet for LO to sleep in for the first few months before we transition to his crib. A few of the ones I really like have REALLY hard mattresses and I'm afraid he won't be comfortable. Are there any you bees recommend/love?
