This happened to me a few months ago only I had moved across the country. The girl who moved into my old apartment looked me up online and emailed my work address asking how she could get the package to me. For some reason she didn't want to just return to sender (Zulily) and offered instead to mail it to me if I sent her money for the postage via paypal. </p> <p>I expected to get the package in the mail from her but then it never came. I emailed her about five times over the course of 2-3 months asking if she still planned to send it and never received a response. I finally had to threaten to report her to the post office since it's illegal to tamper with someone else's mail and I had documented proof (our email exchange) that she had received my package and was holding on to it. After that she finally sent it to me but was very short and rude in our email exchanges. I was happy to finally get my package but the whole ordeal was really strange. I stopped by the apt office on my way home and spoke to the woman in person. She told me that she wouldn't call the current residents on my behalf and advised me to proceed how I saw fit. </p> <p>Luckily, the mail carrier was on property at the time and checked the mail box for me, and it turns out the current residents are just lazy about checking mail. My package was still there! The first time a friend sent a gift and didn't know I had moved (and didn't tell me she sent it for a while). The lady held on to it for a while, and when I finally knew to contact her she handed it over. I was pretty annoyed she didn't 'return to sender' or try and find me.</p> <p>The second time DH didn't notice that his new iPhone went to our old house. The day after it was delivered I knocked on the door, and nobody was home. So I went to the back door and found it there. Felt a little guilty, but it was ours.</p> <p>I would try knocking on their door, especially if you know they are home. This happened to me before, I ordered contacts and accidentally sent them to an old address. I contacted them and even though it was my mistake, then sent a new order to me at no additional cost. I have no idea if the contacts were returned to sender - it was in a different state. </p> <p>I would try Target again or even go in-person to the service counter.
