@gilmoregirl: bagels and cream cheese are the best things ever. And I hear you on giving myself a pass. Any other time, and all of these carbs would make me so sick! I'm trying to eat fruit when it sounds good, but I can't wait until I can get out of the time when all that sounds good is junk!

@gilmoregirl: Something else I enjoyed that was similar to my stand by bagel and cream cheese was an english muffin/crumpet with blackberry jam and smoked gouda. I would occasionally have a bagel for breakfast, and an english muffin at lunch. Carbs were the only thing I could happily stomach!

@jhd: girl, how can you teach without a snack drawer?? :) Even before I was pregnant, I kept a drawer full of crackers, granola bars, etc because I never knew when I'd be desperate for a snack. It's even more important now :)

And honestly, as far as sodium and other unhealthy things, I am giving myself a pass right now. It's just so hard to eat anything, but it really shouldn't be a long term thing anyway. I generally eat pretty healthy, and even now I try to get in yogurt and fruit as much as possible, but I know I've got a carb-heavy, sodium-high diet. For a while I was really stressed about it. But I'm almost out of the first tri, so I'm expecting that within the next several weeks I'll have more balance. It's temporary. Eat what you can for now.

@lemondrop: @deerylou: I could seriously live on bagels and cream cheese right now, but I try to limit myself to weekday mornings. Soo good. At this point, I can barely eat anything and I am THRILLED when something actually sounds good.

My go-to's have been buttered tortillas, spaghetti with butter and parmesan (yeah the powdered awful stuff), and rice cooked in orange juice instead of water with a little butter. I also take along a couple oranges, those cheese cracker sandwiches with peanut butter in the center (also my nursing go to snack), granola bars, Greek yogurt, and a few bottles of Gatorade.

@BabyBoecksMom: Ugh, same here- I usually love pizza, but can't stand it right now :( I also usually love Jimmy John's veggie sandwiches, I got a turkey sandwich the other day, gave all the meat to C for dinner, took one bite and just couldn't eat it. I was so sad.

Nuts, dried fruit, trail mix, dry cereal...try little bite sized things that you can keep in your desk w/o refrigeration, that way you can keep a whole variety on hand at school. Then you can bring fresh items like cheese/yogurt, veggies with peanut butter or hummus, fresh fruit....on a daily basis. Less to pack in the AM.

I also teach, and the first trimester was definitely difficult.

Since I gave up deli meat, and leafy greens made me physically ill until the second trimester, I usually packed a bagel. I would alternate between a savory bagel with chive cream cheese and a sweet bagel with berry shmear. I was a big fan of fruit throughout my pregnancy, so apples, grapes, and citrus were usually packed. Greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs, trail mix (almonds, dried cranberries, and cashews), string cheese, and granola bars were also in the rotation.

Variety is key!

@jhd: you know, I didn't get nearly any cravings or aversions, except for a few weeks in the first trimester where I just wanted sodium! I ate black olives from a can, Top Ramen with mustard mixed in, saltines by the handful....it was crazy. So, I say, eat whatever sounds good at the time and just keep hydrated. It'll probably pass in a few weeks and you'll be on to the next thing!

I bought a few more of these containers and LOVED the variety and options they gave me. I'd pack a cold one (cheeses, dips, yoghurt, etc) and one that can sit on my desk all day (veggies, crackers, fruits, cereal) and it gave me 6+ options of things to snack on every day. Having a variety helped me eat more and kept me interested in my snacking. Like @futuremama: said, I just brought a decent amount of stuff home at night, too.

http://www.amazon.com/Ziploc-Container-Divided-Rectangle-2-Count/dp/B003U6DJ90

ETA- my favorite snacks were crackers, wheat thins with cheese, cherry tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, concord grapes, bell peppers, carrots, pears, and peaches.

I did a lot of fruit, yogurt, string cheese, nuts, soups. Lots and lots of fruit. And fizzy waters like Perrier are my absolute favorite during pregnancy.

ugh, this is something I struggled with too. Whatever sounded good when I was packing usually seemed so unappetizing when lunchtime came around. I ended up buying most days since it was so unpredictable, but of course that is not what you want to hear! But that, and keeping crackers in my drawer were what got me through. Now that I'm in the 2nd trimester, my appetite is so much easier to deal with.

Variety was the key for me. Something might sound good when I packed it that morning but by afternoon it might not be as appealing. I would bring a bunch of small options to see what I could tolerate at the time. Plus I snacked continuously throughout the day, although this might not be a possibility for you.

I brought (small amounts) pretzels with hummus, mini pb&j or chicken salad sandwiches (I'd use dinner rolls), juice boxes, snack packs of chips & cookies, yogurt, pudding, cereal, leftovers, crackers with slices of cheese, cottage cheese with cracker, oatmeal, grapes. Not the healthiest but it got me through.

I'm having a hard time, too! Nothing sounds good usually. I'm finding that granola bars are my friend, as are a variety of fruits (especially watermelon and pineapple) and veggies (raw green beans are awesome), yogurt, and saltines. Also, weirdly, sourdough bread. I usually end up bringing a lot and only eating what things happen to sound good to me that day!

Though let's be real-what I really want, pretty much all the time, is PIZZA. Sigh.
