i used the always overnight with wings - the ones to the far right in your link --- they worked for me!

I used the hospital-grade super duper pads the first 5 (or so) days after I left the hospital though.... I was also using the pads with the ice pack built in the first few days - those were the best.

i had stitches, but they were internal.... for me, anything TOO padded was actually more uncomfortable. Sitting on the bobby was helpful for that.

I think whether or you have stitches matters...I would have worn anything to cushion my terrible stitches at that point

for post partum you might want to start with the bulky maxi pads first and then go from something like the Always ultra thin night time because they are longer.

I used to like always infinity but I hate it now, its way too narrow

Thanks, ladies...I'm still baffled by all the options but maybe I'll run by Target tonight and check them out again. Hadn't thought about the thicker ones being more cushioney, but that's something to consider. I hate the idea of buying multiple packs but I guess I will need different absorbencies.

@miranlee: ohhhh that makes me hurt!

@miranlee: Eeeeeeeek!

I also bought the super long, thick, overnight Kotex ones. If you subscribe to Lucies List, her latest email about postpartum care actually recommends Depends because they're looser, at least for the days immediately following, so I'm keeping that in the back of my head!

@MerryC: Haha, I used these too!!! They worked great for the first week or so!! I actually got them for free from the grocery store while on sale + a coupon so I stocked up!

I would suggest thinking about a few different thicknesses. Towards the end of my PP bleeding I just needed something thin.

for right after delivery, i actually really like Tena pads. they're made for incontinence but are awesome for everything happening in the week or two post delivery. they're really cushy and didn't irritate me at all.

I used leftover hospital pads and Always overnights for a week or so and then switched over to Target's brand version of the Infinity's for the next few weeks. My bleeding wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but the overnights were much more cushioned which helped when sitting down!

I loved the Always Infinity. I discovered them after my M/C and they are so thin and absorbent and comfy. I didn't feel like I was wearing a diaper. I bought a box of the overnights, super and regulars. I didn't end up needing all the overnights and I had to buy another box of the regulars.

I had the same exact dilemna at Target when I was shopping pre-baby! I ended up buying Always Infinity Heavy Pads with Wings and was happy with them. I had a c/s though (scheduled), and my bleeding wasnt crazy. I went home with a load of the super big/bulky ones from the hospital just in case but never needed them.

I only use pads and IMO the best are Always or Always Infinity (i like both). They are thin so you don't feel like you are wearing a flotation device between your legs, but offer great protection. Honestly, the big ole' thick ones the hospital gave me were fine too while I was in the hospital and sitting down most of the day. They were huge though, so I didn't want to wear them once I was discharged.

i say go for kotex super long and thick ones. but definitely Kotex. My midwives told me that Always (with the weave) can get caught by your stitches. ouch!

I used thick pads but without wings. The wings somehow chafed my thighs, so that was uncomfortable. I also asked the nurses at the hospital for extra pads and extras of those really sexy disposable underwear. :-)

I just did my postpartum shopping, and bought these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Ultra-Thin-Super-Longs-Pads-32-Ct/10324950?findingMethod=rr

I obviously haven't started my PP recovery, but these were the pads I always used for my period. I had SUPER heavy periods (like had to see doctors about it), and I never leaked or felt wet with these pads. They're thin but very absorbent. I cannot do the thick pads... they skeeve me out.

I would go for the most ginormous ones you can find in the supermarket;) Sounds super sexy, right?
I still leaked even with huge ones:( So, I wore a pad and some spanx!

I really liked the Always Infinity ones-really comfortable for me. They're almost like a foam...I had to wear them after both my m/c and thought they did a great job of, well, sopping everything up, plus not feeling like diapers. I preferred the overnight ones because they were longer...then I didn't have leaks if i was laying back on the couch or something.

I just bought the cheapest, bulkiest ones I could find. I got two big packs from Big Lots for about $2/package. Wings were good because they didn't twist, and long was nice because I felt protected at night.

i might be in the minority here, but i liked the bulky ones. more cushion when i sat down and they didn't bend in these weird ways that would poke me. i used the always overnights - the regular kind, not infinity. i didn't like how the infinity felt - like it stuck to my parts.

I want to go ahead and buy things I'll for sure need for postpartum, but after strolling through the maxi pad aisle at Target I am stumped. I never buy pads, only tampons and there are SO MANY kinds available! I know I want wings. Do the super thin ones work as well as the thick ones? Do you know what kind you bought that worked well? I don't really want the mile-long overnight kind, but is that the best option?

Here is a link to the varieties of Always... http://www.always.com/en-us/product/pads/sanitary-pads.aspx Seriously, there are a million different varieties.

What should I buy?
