My company just announced yesterday that they're now giving 4 weeks paid  . Before that you had to use your own time. I have STD as well.

Edited to add that I'm in PA. FMLA runs 12 weeks, STD runs 8 weeks or 6 weeks depending on whether you have a c-section. 2 of those 6 or 8 weeks has to be your own time. So when I had E two and a half years ago I used 8 weeks of my own time, and 4 weeks of STD. If I were to get pregnant now I'd get 4 weeks paid by the company, use 4 weeks of my own time, and have 4 weeks paid through STD. Luckily I've been here forever and have accrued a ton of sick time, which doesn't expire.

I'm in Michigan.

When I had K I got 6 weeks at 60%, then another 6 weeks (FMLA) at 0%.

With this one I get 6 weeks at 100%, then another 6 weeks at nothing (assuming another vaginal birth).

SO is an attorney...so he can technically work from home and take whatever time off her needs so long as his clients are supported and he reaches his billable requirements for the year.

I get the standard Canada mat leave , and then my employer gives me 6 weeks paid.

DH gets no paternity leave from his work, he has to use vacation. I could split my govt parental leave with him but thats not a viable option for us for several reasons.

Also in Ontario Canada

So we get 55% and I gave 5 weeks to my husband (I stayed home anyway). His employee topped up to 96%.

I made commission so I finished work at the end of February. And then got a lump sum of my commission for what I had sold for March, April and May. inhadnt sold as much for those months as I normally would since normally you still sell for the month all month long and I was off. But it was still a nice chunk since I tried to pre sell as much as I could.

Neither SO or I get a top up.

we have a super awesome (our province has a different one than the rest of canada) paid parental/maternity leave though.

and right now we're getting PICIC (parental insurance for critically ill children) before parental leave so we can save that for when he comes home (essentially making our leave longer than a year).

I get 6 or 8 weeks STD at 100%, 2 weeks maternity leave at 100%, and then I can choose to take 4 weeks of continuous vacation too. I'm only going to do 2 weeks of vacation on top of the other leave, and since I'll have a repeat c, that'll get me 12 weeks.

DH gets 4 weeks of paternity leave and he'll take 2 weeks of vacation on top of that. All 100% paid.

We work for tech companies and live in MA. We're lucky that we work in a competitive industry and benefits get better and better.

No and No. I live in KY. The only way I get any pay is by saving all my sick, vacation, and comp time. They are reviewing our personnel policy manual but I'm not confident that they will start offering a more attractive parental leave package.

I'm in Australia and I'm taking my mat leave as half pay over 28 weeks. I'm going back to work 12 months after I started my leave, which is when I wad 36 weeks pregnant. Im a teacher, and they will hold my job for 2 or 3 years.

@bunnylove: I think we can still double dip as long as our babies are born before some time early next year. I am! My HR manager assisted me and he's down with all the rules.

We are very lucky and both work at huge companies in Texas.

I get 2 weeks antepartum and 6 weeks postpartum paid thru short term disability. After that, I get an additional 6 weeks paid parental leave (this is open to mothers and fathers at the firm).

DH's technology company just increased their paid parental leave from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. That said, the culture is so bad that I doubt dads feel like they are actually able to use it.

Apart from STD, my company just release a maternity supplement! It covers the remaining 1/3 of my salary that STD doesn't for the concurrent 6/8 weeks. However, the 1/3 of my salary is not paid until I return to work and I receive it as a lump sum.

They also give us 1 week paid to help cover our salaries until STD kicks in on day 8.

I consider myself extremely fortunate. I'm in Australia so my position is held legally for a year. I get 14 weeks full pay from the hospital that I work at, which I am able to take at 28 weeks half pay. I saved up 6 weeks annual leave which is paid at 117.5% and then when that finishes, the government pays me minimum wage for 18 weeks as part of the Paid Parental Scheme (PPL). They've just changed this legislation though and while I'm eligible, they won't allow "double dipping" anymore (ie being paid by both your employer and the government). My husband is also entitled to 2 weeks pay through the government.

We are in Austria. I'm freelance, so I can take as much as I want, but unpaid. I could have applied for a 12 month maternity fund, but I didn't since I was one of the rare people who didn't qualify. Most women get one year paid (various amounts depend on your situation).

Yes, 75% benefit for up to 12 weeks for primary caregivers and up to 2 weeks for secondary caregivers, depending on your tenure at the company. We just rolled this out over the summer, and I was the one who drafted the policy and got it approved.

My husband's company has 2 weeks for secondary caregivers, but only if you have worked there for at least a year and are a certain (pretty high) level of seniority.

Kind of - no straight paid maternity leave, but I got paid maternity leave through short term disability coverage, which was 100% employer paid. It was 100% pay for 6 weeks post birth, and they also paid the elimination week, so full pay for 7 weeks.

My husband is eligible to take 12 weeks paternity leave and it's all paid, because he's paid for the full year, regardless of leave time.

@agold: Unless there's a reason you don't qualify (government employees often don't), state STD will pay up to four weeks before due date, 6 (vaginal) or 8 weeks (c-section) after delivery (short term disability) and an additional 6 weeks for family bonding. Your partner (if also working in california) should also get 6 weeks family bonding. All of these are paid at 60% of your salary up to some income thresh-hold.

Your supplemental STD should top off the amount you get for the 6-8 weeks after delievery, but not the 6 weeks of bonding time.
