E always has consistent solid poops--sometimes like rabbit poops. Even fruit doesn't seem to affect it much...sometimes it does, though. The pain would make me bring it up to the dr, for sure!

Not a parent yet, but I would also consult with a doctor at least about possible allergies.

But my family takes tummy aches rather seriously after my nephew had a lymphoma in his gut when he was 5. His younger sister (7) was complaining of pain more recently and was diagnosed with celiac.

@mediagirl: That would definitely worry me. LO has consistent solid poops. The only time she has loose stools is when she has an upset stomach or ate too many oranges. I would address it with your pediatrician ASAP.

@mediagirl: I would also suspect dairy and possibly gluten.
Start with removing dairy and give it a full 3 weeks and see if you notice a change!

@mediagirl: my LO's poops are in solid form but usually soft (I know this bc when she flushes it basically dissolves as it goes down). Sometimes they are more solid. She's had loose stool (like totally liquid) once but she never complained about her tummy

That would worry me if she consistently had liquid/loose stool and also complained of her tummy hurting. The first thing I would cut out would be dairy but that's bc I'm lactose intolerant. I would also call her pediatrician and get some advice.

Some questions -

Does your toddler have solid poops or are they consistently loose?

Does your child ever complain about their belly hurting while eating a meal? Not 30 minutes later, but while eating?

Would having these two things occur consistently worry you? Where would you start to track down the problem in a 2/3 year old?
