Ugh, it's back again! Baby flipped head down at 27 weeks, but I'm 28+3 and the pain is back... I wonder if she has done another somersault, or whether this is just my uterus expanding? OUCH!

That stinks!

I had pain in my ribs only in my left side withDS2. Sitting on a yoga ball helped. Baby ended up being 22 in long!! He was transverse for a bit too.

DS1 was like this - his little feet were in the right side of my ribs the entire pregnancy. I have a vivid memory of the moment during my csection when they pulled him out....I literally shouted "I can breathe again!" Lol

Sorry, no advice...just commiseration. Hope you find some relief!

@elljay: Thanks love! I'm going to invest in a fitness ball to help me with my lean forwards etc - so that might help too! x

No ideas, just major sympathy. I had insane burning rib pain from 27 weeks through the end of my pregnancy, and baby was head down the whole time. One thing that helped a little was using a squishy foam ball to put pressure on the spot that hurt. One the plus side, the pain went away the minute I gave birth.

Mine seems worse at the end of the day or while sitting, definitely. The burning pain is square and centre under my rib cage, and man, it's full on!

Thanks for weighing in guys. Haven't had any symptoms of gall bladder but I will definitely keep an eye out.

TURN, BABY!

If it just on one side, have your gallbladder checked. I had terrible, take your breath away type pain under my ribs on one side, and it turns out my gallbladder had stopped functioning. A low-fat diet really helped, and I was fine as soon as I gave birth.

Pretty sure mine was still breech then and I had tons of rib pain this time but it was still bad when he flipped. He separated my rib cage with his feet. It hurt until about a week after he was born and then I was back to normal. He was extremely long- almost 22" at birth.

@jaguar: I had this exact same starting at 25 weeks! It was also sort of numb. I've heard a few theories that it could be your gallbladder or ligament stretching. It was worse when sitting leading me to think it was a positional issue. Baby was head down and labor was fine.. It wasn't terrible though and went away as soon as I gave birth.

I've never seen a Chiro - might have to look into it! I've heard it's still normal to be breech now but if she stays this way.... Ouch!!!

Thanks guys. It is definitely better after lying down.

I had the same rib pain - DS was transverse until about 33 weeks. The only thing that helped was acupuncture.

I had to sit on a yoga ball as much as possible. Sometimes doing the cat-cow yoga position helped me. I hope you feel better.

Oh man. LO1 was breech until the end and I could barely sit down the rib pain was so bad. Laying down fully stretched out help and I also used to position an ice pack under a sports bra to try and numb it.

Go see a chiropractor. They can help flip tgr baby into a more comfortable position. That was the only way I could get through pregnancy

I felt like that for both my pregnancies, babies had their bodies positioned to dig into and stretch my rib cage. Couldn't do much other than rub sore spots :/

I'm 25+2 weeks and really struggling with pain in my ribs ... it's been bad for a little while but only on/off, but these last few days it is BURNING by the evenings & hurts all the time.

Baby girl has been breech for the past 6+ weeks now, so I'm wondering if it's her positioning that's doing it.. but anyone have any ideas for relief from it?
