Omg,I had that too and it always got worse when I over did things like cleaning. I used a heating pad and it helped. I ok'd it with my OB. it was the worst when I sat and lied down. It went away after i had my baby. Yuck,I sure don't miss that part bc there were many nights where my husband would be snoring y while I sat in the dark in our sitting room trying to heat my ass.

Yep! And it came on around that time, too. In my case, it wasn't sciatica -- I ended up seeing a prenatal chiropractor and my left pelvic joint was twisted outward from the growing weight of the baby and my center of gravity shifting. I starting seeing her weekly, it took a few weekly visits but she gently guided things back into place. Now I go once every 3 weeks or so. She's only $30 and she's saved my ass. Literally.

@Cherrybee: Well, the pain directly in the butt cheek did subside but this trimester I started getting some sciatica pain I think. Lower back pain has been there since 2nd tri but there were a couple of days the pain was on one side from lower back down to my feet! Not to scare you though! I just try to do more stretching on those days.

I totally had this ALL through 1st trimester and a bit here and there in 2nd tri! I thought it was so weird too! It'd be like one butt cheek would have ran a marathon and was so sore! If you tell people (like my cheesy DH) you might get some wise-a$$ remarks and jokes. :)

I agree, talk to your OB about it and they can usually give you some stretches to do. Sadly, it usually just gets worse as it goes on!

I had pain like this and it wasn't my sciatic nerve--it was my sacrum! My chiropractor gave me a lot of stretches. One of them was a crotch thruster. Yeah, it looked like a porno move. But after about 3 months of treatment, I am 100% pain free in my booty!

@JoJoGirl: I got the full body Boppy right after my BFP and it has helped a ton. I added another pillow to the mix though, now that my belly is huge. It seems to help to have more there now.

Sounds like sciatica. Sit up straight, 'tuck' your butt in when you're walking, and sleep with a pillow between your knees. Keeping active/exercising can help too!

I have this too. I didn't know it was sciatica and I didn't know it was pregnancy-related, I thought I hurt myself weightlifting. But yes, it's only on one side and if I try to bend over to tie my shoe, I get shooting pains through my left butt cheek so I can barely stand back up. I got acupuncture for it and that helped some!

Sounds like sciatica...I get that pain when I'm trying to stand on one leg to put undies on. Or sometimes when I stand with one foot in front of the other.

@Cherrybee: I hope for your sake that it goes away too, but with your joints getting all loosened up, you may be dealing with this on and off for a while! I know what you mean about it being kind of funny. I kept insisting to DH that my "butt hurts" all the time, and he just gave me weird looks. But it really did!

I totally had this. I don't know if it was sciatica or what, but it got worse as I got bigger. I did a lot of pigeon yoga stretches to combat the pain in my butt and hips, but it did go away after giving birth. Sorry you are going through this!

Okay - this is a weird question! But for the last couple of days I've had this pain in my left butt cheek......

It came on yesterday - I'd cleaned the house thoroughly and had a little lie down to rest afterwards. When I tried to get up, a sharp pain went though my butt cheek and my leg went kinda dead - I was limping about for a few minutes then it eased up. For the rest of the day, the pain was twingey, if you know what I mean? It came on whenever I tried to bend down to pick something up - but mostly I was okay.

Well, cut to today and I had a two hour drive to work. When I got out of the car, the pain went shooting though my butt cheek again - and there is has remained all day, twinging on and off but generally just making walking difficult. When I got in from work, I changed my clothes and I couldn't bend enough to put my socks on!!

What have I done to myself??? Is this pregnancy related, too? Has anyone else had this?? I'm only 11 and a half weeks!!!!
