Some of us on the September 2013 thread (including me) have been experiencing similar things... I wondered if it was a combination of BH contractions and round ligament pain? I have a MW appointment tomorrow and am going to ask about it. Mine is right next to my belly button... its enough to cause me pain when I'm walking and sometimes if I lay on my right side - but not so much it stops me sleeping.

Hope you figure it out or it goes away soon! You're def not the only one though xx

@anewme: Oh - I hadn't heard about that. Thanks!
@Meltini: Hmm...That would make sense. The pain itself seems to either swell and come to a high point really fast, so if it were spasming...it might do that. I will offer that in my doctor's apt. And thank you!

I had something that sounds very similar and my chiropractor said it was a spasming ligament. She was able to get rid of the pain after a very uncomfortable massage in that area. I hope yours isn't anything serious!

@Foodnerd81: I don't think so. Perhaps though, I had been drinking water through the day, but the really bad one was at around 3:30 this morning.
@hergreenapples: It's in the middle, I'd say. Below my ribs but not near my hip. That is scary, pre-e. If it does get worse, I am most definitely calling the doctor -- especially if it is anything like last night.

Thanks for the concern! :happy:

When I was pregnant with my second, I developed a mild case of hydronephrosis which can and does happen in pregnant women due to hormones and also the extra work on thr kidneys. I had days of pain and it would come and go and no position seemed to alleviate it. Eventually it went away and definitely resolved itself after I had the baby.

Where on your right side? High or low? If it's in the upper right quadrant it can be a symptom of pre-e. glad you're going to get checked out soon. I might be tempted to go in sooner than later, as it sounds like it's been quite bad on a few occasions.

@greenebee: Ouch! That sounds really unpleasant and scary! Any chance you were dehydrated then? It still sounds extreme-- glad you have any appt coming up, but if it happens again I'd call right away.

I do get pretty strong kicks and stuff on my right side that can really hurt but it's clear that it's the baby kicking. I frequently sit watching TV with one hand holding the right side of my belly down to keep his or her foot out of my ribs. Dh thinks this is hilarious.

Update: That evening, the pain increased to where I had doubled-over a few times. Doctors were called and they said if I can sleep through it, it shouldn't be a problem. Last night though, I woke up practically screaming in pain! It felt like someone was stabbing me in the side of the stomach. DH said that my belly was hard as a rock too. I was able to make it dull down by switching positions and fell back asleep. But man, what a terrifying, painful moment. I have a doctor's apt. tomorrow and will ask about it then, since right now at least its gone. Hoping that it just means that my guy is moving down and these are just intense movement pains.

Thanks ladies! I thought it could be gas too. Definitely not labor :happy: - The doctor says I'm needing more water, and rest. Hopefully that will make this icky crampy go away.

@greenebee: Ugh, sorry you're in pain! I had really bad cramps on my right side a few weeks ago and it turned out to be gas pains. Do you think that's what it could be? I think as long as it's in your abdomen and not lower then you should be ok. I will also randomly have pains in my abdomen from time to time--I assume it's just the weight and pressure of the baby/her changing positions. Do you have another doctor's appointment coming up soon?

I had pains like that around that time! I don't know what they were, but LO is 3 months old so everything was fine :)

Could it be gas? I have lots of random pains these days and just assume they are all my body getting ready (38 weeks). But those sharp exercise type pains could definitely be a little bit of trapped gas.

Hello everyone. Just a quick question. I am 36 + 4 weeks along and have been for the past couple of days having cramps in my right side. It happened a few weeks ago, and my OB gave me a non-stress test and we found out that everything was fine, and they weren't sure why the cramps were there. They don't feel like menstrual cramps, more like running-without-stretching-cramps. I have been taking it easy and keeping my feet up, but I am not sure what is going on. Did anyone else experience this? I'm not too worried...I was thinking it may be the LO moving down and the pains that sometimes come with that, but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced that? Thanks in advance for any advice!
