I also had prodromal labor that ramped up in intensity for a couple of days before I finally had my baby. It's miserable. All I can say is, try to get rest whenever you can. You'll need your energy once you finally kick into active labor. Also, the bathtub was my best friend during labor...

Yup, I'm sorry, it is miserable. That was my last week of pregnancy too. I couple of times I got so excited that it might be actual labor, but then it stopped. I took a lot of naps during the day since I didn't get much sleep at night!

You can only be pregnant for so much longer, you are almost there!

I had prodromal labor for 6 nights & 1 FULL day before kicking into active labor so I TOTALLY understand. Contractions at night are more common because the rise in oxytocin AND melatonin.

My best advice is rest how & when you can. Don't do any crazy exerting of yourself to "help" labor along because it likely won't help & will only wear you out. Sleep between the contractions & nap during the day if you can (I couldn't because my contractions would start back up)

Don't get discouraged... Your body is getting ready for the hard work it has to do for lo arrival! ;)

Yup - my last week before labor was like that. I was convinced it was Pre-labor although I didn't get 100% confirmation from my OB. It's soo uncomfortable and frustrating!!

Hang in there!!!

Thanks for the support girls. I think the lack of sleep and hormones have made me super emotional and crazy. I was sobbing when hubs and I saw "what to expect when you're expecting" the other day. Ridiculous.

I think I'm more frustrated because I don't know what's going on. Are they contractions? Gas? Should I be worried? When the heck is the baby coming????? It's so hard when your body is completely out of your control!

Yes! I had this for a couple of weeks before I went into labor with DS. I'm sorry, I know how miserable it is. You're almost there, though! Try and rest whenever you get a chance, and just remember that you're nearing the light at the end of the tunnel!

I just wanted to tell you how much I feel for you! ((Hugs)) I am nowhere near 39 weeks (25 weeks this week), but I have been experiencing contractions (regular, not BH) late at night. I usually only have a couple every few days, but they do wake me up and are so infrequent they are super disruptive, not to mention frightening, so it makes it really hard to go back to sleep. No sleep on top of being 39 weeks pregnant, you must be so incredibly exhausted(!) - I can't even imagine how sleep-deprived and overwhelmed you must feel. I wish I had some great advice for you, but since I don't, I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you are experiencing this.

I am so frustrated. I'm 39 weeks and for the past 3-4 nights I've been having pretty painful contractions - enough to wake me and to keep me from falling back asleep, and I feel like I need to do the labor breathing to get through them. They only happen at night and almost completely die away during the day. This means I haven't really had more than an hour or so of sleep for the past 3-4 nights. It's actually 4am right now and I just completely broke down and started sobbing. I know I won't be getting any sleep once LO arrives, but at least then it will be for a reason. Has this happened to anyone else?? I thought maybe it was gas, but I've taken stool softeners and a laxative and it didn't help.

Also, I've lost a few big chunks of my mucus plug over the past week and keep losing more each day. After many of the contractions, I usually get a small gush of discharge (gross).
