What works for me is lots of attention to the area. Hot showers and massage it, pumping it and massaging it, feeding a lot going to sleep with a hot compress.

You can also try lying on your left side and then leaning over your LO to nurse them from your right breast while massaging the lump. The massage + gravity + suckling helps loosen up the lumps. Also make sure you stay hydrated!

it sounds like you have a clogged milk duct. you definitely want to treat it right away as it can lead to mastitis!

here is a post i wrote on treating clogged milk ducts. once you get them once, you're more likely to get them again. i had three with charlie, and two with olive so far (and mastitis with olive!)

I have been very sore on my right breast on the outer side(toward my armpit) for about a week now. When I get full of milk it is worse and when I empty it I can feel some lumps. I cannot seem to get the lumps to break up through massage and/or heat. I went to my GP today and she want to send me for an ultrasound.

Any thoughts on what this could be and how I could maybe get it to go away? Also LO is still eating off that side and I haven't noticed a drop in supply.
