Maybe try astroglide? The liquid one in the bottle.

@Bibliolove: Well... I'd have to say not to use it as a lube then!

We were using Jo H20 Water Based lube. (it's a blue bottle) Over all I like it, and we still do use it on occasion. There were a time or too that we had to reapply it. And it does sometimes get a little tacky but over all it was my favorite lube.

I'd fight with random patches of dryness so lube is usually required but not always. I had another friend who could only have non painful sex if she used lube and lots of it. So it might just be your body's way of cycling.

But if you're painfully dry other times too it might be worth going to the obgyn to get it check out. Your right at 6 months for TTC too so I think it might not hurt to go anyways. Worse thing is they'll send you home with lube samples and say keep trying for another 6 months and then see us again.

@RKitty: @Mrs. Champagne: I wish I could use coconut oil! It breaks me out quite badly, I get cysts around the gential area from it. It's my nemesis in body care and hair care products, too.

I can, and do, cook with it however.

I've used several lubes... but honestly our favorite one right now is coconut oil. We keep a jar by the bed, it's solid at room temperature but goes liquid very quickly when touching your body.

Other lubes we've used on we've had to reapply them as they dry out/get tacky but never had to with coconut oil.

Coconut oil is also has a ton of health benefits like being anti-fungal so it's good for your skin too. (we've used it help treat athletes foot - different jar though!)

I also like it because when we're all done neither me or my husband often don't feel the need to go wash up every time afterwards because our skin absorbs if after a while, and doesn't leave a tacky or sticky residue.

Also we use it for massages as it's an oil so it's very smooth.

The only down side to it is it is an oil so you can sometimes stain sheets with a oil spot. (But usually it washes out easily, but I think it's the culprit for a couple stains....)

And then for clean up the skin can stay slick for a while and if you shower to rinse it off if you used a ton it can make the shower slippery... but it washes off pretty quick.

I should also mention we finally conceived our baby two months after switching to coconut oil after over a year of trying using a more standard lube. No idea if it's related or not but it's the truth!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: that's the one we use too. I will try using more.

I hope it's not a low estrogen problem. I worry because I'm borderline underweight, but my cycles are regular. Thanks ladies!

First suggestion, if you're not doing this already, have recreational sex. When we were TTC sometimes we fell into a habit of only having sex when it mattered- peak fertility days. Making the effort to make love just because increased the fun on the days when we BD for a purpose.

Second suggestion lube it up! We use sliquid. It's water based and after some friction it dries, so more much more from the beginning is a good thing.

The sex is painful because you are dry.

I would try a much longer foreplay session and LOTS of lube!

Good luck!

I'm struggling with painful sex post-ovulation, along with uncomfortable vaginal dryness. This has been an ongoing issue, and this past weekend we couldn't finish with sex twice because it felt so bad.

It feels like a burning sensation and no pleasure is derived the actual act. It's like my nerve endings are non-existent after I ovulate. :( I'm OK during and up to mid-cycle, but after that it's downhill.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this "normal"?What were your issues? I use lube every time. I think I need to get checked out by an OB. We've been TTC since late Aug and no luck so far.
