@Mrs. Tricycle: gotcha. The actual spit up seems to hurt my LO but now he's only done it off and on which confuses me further. Also wondering if what I thought was baby acne could be a food allergy rash :/ this is nerve wracking! Kelly mom website agreed with you hypothesis that around this time they're fussiest and spit up more- if that's all it is I'm ready for the downhill side of this peak!

@scg00387: I don't think the act of spitting up is painful, but he's uncomfortable and acts extra gassy before he actually spits up.

I know that dairy intolerances can show up out of the blue. A friend's son was fine until he was 9 months old and then, all of a sudden, he couldn't handle dairy anymore. She had to stop pumping and put him on soy formula.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I get confused between growth spurts and wonder weeks and what's what! Does your little guy seem pained by the spit up??

I just post almost this exact thread earier today. LO is 6 weeks old too, has been fussing way more, and all of a sudden is spitting up. I think I decided that fussing is due to the massive 6 week growrh spurt, and the fussing means he takes in way more air when nursing, which equals more spitting up.

I haven't experienced this as my son had silent reflux in that he never spit up but told us it hurt by crying constantly. One thing I've noticed about MSPI is that it can be a cumulative affect. It can take a while to do damage and hurt. So I wouldn't rule food out. You should talk to your doctor.

We've had an easy go of breastfeeding but starting last night my little guy was acting fussy while eating and then had lots of spit up, mostly partially digested. Happened again this morning and now at night. He seems really pained, burping isn't helping, and it smells sweetish. It's bringing tears to my eyes that he's so unhappy nursing !

Nothing in my diets changed.... Could he develop reflux over a short period of time? He's normally a happy spitter :(

Anyone else experience this?
