I'm not big into nail polish, but I wouldn't judge another parent for doing it. As long as the kid doesn't have their fingers in their mouth all the time- that worries me a little. </p> <p>I think it would be a great reward to keep them from sucking thumbs or biting nails if it worked as a motivation for that particular kid. But I'd let my best friend paint our kids nails around age 4 if that was something she wanted. My wife would hate it though. And It would only happen very infrequently. I think we started right before two because that's when she would sit still and understood the concept of "wet paint". After a while we let her do her fingers too.
