I was paleo pre-pregnancy and fell off the bandwagon throughout my pregnancy but tried to eat somewhat clean (I enjoyed my cookies and chocolate milk). I crossfitted 4-5x a week during my pregnancy as well.

My LO was 6lbs 9oz and 20" and he was born at 39 weeks via c-section. He BALLOONED after his first month of life though and quickly became a porker of a baby. I'm small (5'2", 110lbs) and both DH and I were small babies (<6.5 lbs).

I wouldn't really think eating paleo would impact baby weight that much (unlike a really calorie restrictive diet might?). Paleo isn't necessarily "low-fat", so you should be getting plenty of calories to yourself and bebe as long as you are eating enough, and eating a clean diet high in veggies has got to be good for both.

I didn't eat paleo while pregnant (or now), but I eat a pretty clean / whole food diet to begin with - lots of fresh veggies, salads, fish, good fats like avocado, nuts, olive oil, full fat dairy, etc. My baby was 8 lbs. exactly, and I lost even weight 1st trimester.

I definitely think genetics (and health conditions) have the majority to do with birth weight.

I ate paleo prior to pregnancy, but struggled with it in the first tri...and then there was Christmas, so I wasn't very good about it then either. I've tried to be back on the paleo wagon for the past three and a bit months, but haven't been nearly as strict as I was pre-pregnancy. I've also crossfitted throughout pregnancy.

Anyhow, no baby yet (40+2) so I can't comment on the birth weight issue. It's my understanding though that there's also a strong genetic component, so I imagine that comes into play as well.

I'm paleo with next pregnancy which will hopefully begin in about 4 months.
I was borderline GD but not enough to be on the diet or to be induced, and I ate everything I wanted. My babe was 7.8lbs and 3 days late. So, I think had I actually eaten healthy, he would have been even smaller.

I EBF for 12w and now he is FF. At 6m, he is just hitting 18lbs and he eats organic fruit/veggies only as his solids. We will add meats but we're never doing grains or juices until the 1 yr mark. I'm NOT trying to keep his weight down by any means, I would never do that, however, I am trying to make sure all his intake is 100% nutritional and the best I can offer him (since I can no longer offer BF either).

I didn't eat paleo, but I had a ton of trouble eating anything at all when I was pregnant. I ate a TON of fresh fruits and vegetables (specifically oranges, asparagus and watermelon). The only other thing I could consistently eat was peanut butter sandwiches. My LO was 8lb 12oz at birth and at his 6.5 month well-baby was a few ounces shy of 20lbs.

I'm going to if I get pregnant again. I apparently didn't try hard enough to avoid GD issues as I thought I had, so I'm gonna have to be super careful.

I did not eat paleo but was on a restricted diet due to gestational diabetes. I didn't gain any weight in my last trimester, and my LO was on the smaller side at 5 lbs 13 oz (born 10 days before EDD).

I'm curious who ate paleo during pregnancy and if there seemed to be any impact on birth weight. I couldn't find any information when I was pregnant. Based on the foods I ate 2nd and 3rd trimester I expected my baby to be on the smaller side. My baby was 6lbs 10oz and 21 inches, born 40w 5d.

I'll admit I was surprised my baby was as light/skinny as she was. A 34 week ultrasound had said she was already 7.5lbs and tracking to be 9.5 by 40 weeks. The first few hours after her birth I even wondered if I made a mistake (yes, by eating lots of healthy foods and avoiding junk).

My concerns melted away when she gained an ounce her first night despite being extremely tongue tied. By one week she had gained a pound and I think she's about 11.5lbs now at 6 weeks.

Anyone else eat paleo during pregnancy?
