We go every fall and rent a house with a pool & a hot tub. Both are heated, so there's a chance you could still use them in December (or at least a not-too-hot hot tub). My kids have loved Joshua Tree and the Living Desert zoo. We also usually take the tram up and hike around the top, but even if you just go for the ride and a snack up top, it might be fun. There's also a lot of good hiking right in Palm Springs, and of course walking around window shopping/etc in the city. If you VRBO, we also just do "nature walks" around the neighborhood since all of the succulents & other plants are SO different from what we have in the midwest!

We’ve done the Westin in Rancho Mirage and most recently a home rental from VRBO in Palm Springs (rental company was Relax Palm Springs and you can save money by renting directly through them). We liked the vrbo experience more than the big resort but location-wise either was fine. There is a great children’s museum in Rancho Mirage and Joshua Tree is amazing. We’ve also done the air museum, the aerial tram, and the living zoo. When we went in February, it was pretty cool out but there was still plenty to do.

I"ve stayed at La Quinta plenty of times. It could definitely still be pool weather. For sure hot tub weather. We rarely actually stay in true Palm Springs. And all of the "palm springs" towns are not far apart from each other. Go to the living zoo. Its only about 10 minutes away from where you will be staying and your 3 year old will love it. When you check into La Quinta, ask if there are any open townhome deals to upgrade to. Probably not because it will be high season, but worth a shot. Bring your 3 year old's scooter if you can - he/she will love to ride it around La Quinta. The tram is great, but it could be legit cold at the top. It snows often in the winter. Also, I second the suggestion to look at VRBO and get a place that is right on a golf course. Its fun to let the kids run on the golf course after the course closes. Good luck and have fun!

Have you looked into Airbnb’s? Palm Springs has a lot of amazing houses available for rent. And if you’re closer to the down town area you’ll be able to walk around a bit more plus buying your own groceries will save money.

I used to go to PS multiple times a year but it was before kids so I’m not sure what kid friendly activities there are but I’ve heard good things about the tram ride/bike.

We’re going to Palm Springs for four nights over Christmas. We’re from the east coast and I really know nothing about the area besides my googling over the last few days. We’ll have a our 10 month old and 3 year old with us.

Looking for recommendations for where to stay and any must do activities. We were going to stay at La Quinta resort but I realized it’s pretty far from Palm Springs itself and since it’s not really going to be pool weather I think it’d be better to be closer? Also that’s like our max budget and I’m not sure 4 days eating on resort is really doable.

Any advice is appreciated!
