@Crumbs: I'd say double up on the packages and if you have too many, you can always donate them to the hospital or an organization that would be glad to have them. That's what we plan on doing with any diapers we don't use.

I am in Europe too and we have the different sizing, the smaller packages and the insanely high prices too! What we did was use size 2 from birth.

DD weighed 6.9 pounds when she was discharged and was in newborn diapers for the first 3 weeks. In that time we went through 150ish diapers.

I don't remember how long LO wore newborn size but I think it was until about 2 weeks when the cord stump fell off and we ran out and switched to size 1 (she was 8lb 0.07oz at birth). How many you go through in a day depends upon how much LO minds being wet. Our LO HATED being wet as a newbie and so we changed her at the first sign of wetness (usually based on the indicator line the swaddlers have).

DS was 7 lbs, 6 oz at birth and he is still in Newborn size at almost 6 weeks. We'll probably switch over to size 1 in the next week, though.

Little Jumper was born 7lbs 8oz, and was in NB diapers for at least the first four weeks. She was in size 1 until two months ago. She wears size 2 now.

LJ is 14lbs 8oz at 6.5 months.

Oh wow, I had no idea! I have 88 size N (equivalent), I specifically bought the smaller pack just in case the baby outgrows them! Lol! Now I think I should buy more.

I do have 124 of the size 1 (equivalent) but guess those I'll have time to use regardless. Yeh, I think I should buy more of the newborn sizes! I don't want to wait last minute and buy locally since it costs 2-3 times more at the stores here~!

DS weighed 9lbs 5oz at birth (went home at a little over 8lbs) and wore the newborn size for about 3 weeks. Even after he passed the 10lb mark, the size 1 swaddlers were too big & leaked. That might be something to consider. How many you will use really depends on your baby. My LO went through 12-14 diapers a day on average.

My baby is 15 days old, weighed in at 6lbs 9 oz at birth, and will probably wear size N for a while. We've gone through more than 100 diapers in the past 2 weeks. They say expect anywhere from 8-12 diapers a day for a while. But it will really depend on how big your baby is to begin with. A couple of friends have had large babies (9lbs or bigger) who only wore newborn sizing for a couple of weeks.

I think every child is different, depends on their birth weight and then how fast the grow. My baby is 11 days old and stil wearing the N size, we bought a pack of 96 but that only lasted about a week so we are now on our second pack

What size diapers did your newborn wear and how many (for the first month)? I live in Europe and they offer Pampers New Baby as opposed to Swaddlers (although it might be the same) but the sizing is different.

New Baby sizing:
Size 1: 2 - 5 kg / 5 - 11 lbs
Size 2: 3 - 6 kg / 7 - 14 lbs
Size 3: 4 - 7 kg / 9 - 15 lbs

Swaddlers sizing:
Size XS: up to 2 kg / up to 4 lbs
Size Preemie: up to 3 kg / up to 6 lbs
Size N: up to 5 kg / up to 10 lbs
Size 1: 4 - 6 kg / 8 - 14 lbs
Size 2: 5 - 8 kg / 12 - 18 lbs
Size 2-3: 6 - 10 kg / 14 - 22 lbs
Size 3: 7 - 13 kg / 16 - 28 lbs

I'm trying to figure out if I have enough for the first month. I know the sizing depends on baby's initial weight and growth. How many diapers did your LO go through each day?

We can buy them at the local store but it's just soooo much cheaper online so I'd like to plan ahead.
