Thanks for your input, everyone! I didn't think it should matter, but the question did float through my mind . . .

I can't imagine any reason why it would matter. They're just messing with the outside of your cervix, not anything inside where potential baby might be settling in.

When I was pregnant with DS, I had a pap smear done as part of the routine checkups. Guessing it's fine? You could call and ask to confirm.

I can't offer any real assurance, but I had a similar situation yesterday (7 dpo and had a pap during my physical). My doctor said there was no risk since they only mess with the outside of the cervix, so I went for it. Hopefully we both get BFPs soon! :goodluck:

I am going to guess it is probably fine. My OB does one during the confirmation of pregnancy appointment (usually around 4-5 weeks) if you haven't had one recently.

When I "graduated" from the RE back to my OB, she did my annual exam with pap when I was 9 weeks pregnant. So I'm gonna assume it's safe at any point since she did it then! And still pregnant ;)

Only can offer anecdotal experience - I had my annual pap several weeks after implantation (didn't know I was pregnant then, had not missed period and tested yet), and had no issues. I had a SCH and early bleeding with my pregnancy, but have absolutely no reason to believe it had anything to do with the pap timing - I dunno, I don't think there's much more poking/prodding for a pap than there is with sex. My OB takes like 30 seconds to do a pap! :silly:

I am scheduled for my annual visit with the GYN this Friday, when I will be approximately 7 DPO. Honestly, our timing was not great this cycle (I ovulated early without much warning), so I'm not really worried about it, but anyone know if having all the poking and prodding of an annual exam could affect the chances of implantation?
