It's entirely possible that it's just because I'm still EBFing, but my midwife told me a lot of women don't get periods on Mirena. Having not had a period yet I can't speak to what bleeding or cramping might be like if and when I do and weight has been (unfortunately) steady. </p> <p>I do have a friend that has Paraguard. She says she has very long, very heavy periods, but she still likes it because her body didn't react well to hormonal BC. She gets bad cramps but she did before it, so no change there. I initially was thinking about Paragard, but then decided against it b/c I have a history of extreme cramping already. With the Mirena my periods have completely vanished, and I don't feel like I'm having any of the side effects that I always hated with hormonal BCP.
