I read Bringing Up Bebe, which I really enjoyed because it was more of a story of someone's experience rather than a parenting method. I watched the Happiest Baby on the Block (DH called it sorcery :-P), and I'm planning to read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child because it comes highly recommended. I've also been browsing around the Dr Sears Baby Book, but I've just been skipping around to subjects that interest me.

I think there are a few books that are useful like Happiest Baby on the Block and Healthy Sleep Habits Healthy Child. Kellymom.com for breastfeeding. But other than that, I feel like you can do the research as you go when the baby is here. You never know what information you will need so I'd rather have a more targeted approach rather than reading everything that I can get my hands on.

The only books I've read so far are research-based...Do Chocolate Lovers Have Sweeter Babies? and What's Going On In There? Both are based on pre and postnatal body/brain development, not pushing birth choices or mommy shaming.

I don't plan on reading WTE because pretty much everyone I know who's read it has freaked the F out about something silly. It's like Web MD for pregnant people.

I have a pretty big reading list already, so I can give you reviews of the good ones! (Of course, everything I'm reading is in line with my birth and parenting plans, so a book that's good for me could be useless to you)

I loved Bringing Up Bebe and I think Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child s a good resource. I also have the Baby Book by Dr. Sears which is great for general knowledge, baby milestones, etc.

The happiest baby on the block...I wish I read it when I was pregnant. My baby was so fussy in the early months, until I read that book and did the S's, he completely changed.

I was so busy worrying about pregnancy and pregnancy books that I didn't think about parenting until LO came. I did read some books after she was here, but I didn't have time for many.

I read, "How to Have Your Second Child First" which I thought was an interesting read. I currently have the Bringing Up Bebe book out from the library, but haven't started it yet.

i have only read "bringing up bebe" and i loved it!! it made me really relax about a lot of pregnancy related things. it isn't advice or a method, just basically an anecdotal story of how an american woman (the author) observed french parents raising their children. i really enjoyed it.

i think i will read "do chocolate lovers have sweeter babies?" next.

i'm not really into typical WTEWYE-type books. someone gave me a copy of babywise and i tried reading it and had to abandon it. i'm sure it's great...just not for me.

All I read was "what to expect when you're expecting" as I went thru my pregnancy. As for other baby literature, I only read when I feel the need. For instance, when we were sleep training, I read a sleep training book, and only the chapter about the age range he was currently in.

As far as baby research, we do it on a strict need-to-know basis. I don't like stressing myself out about issues that might not even be problems for us in the future.

We read two pregnancy books and waited to get any baby books until after baby came and we started having questions that weren't pediatrician worthy but would be nice to know kind of questions. It wasn't until my son was a month or two old before we went to Barnes & Noble and scoured the shelves to find books that seemed to fit our parenting style but were also informative.

I was gifted several books when I first announced I was pregnant, and I felt the need to read them all. I finally decided that I was becoming too overwhelmed by all the crossing information and it started to stress me out. After discussing with a coworker, she went through the same thing and said to rely on your mother instincts instead of a book so I have stopped!

Anyone else give up on baby literature before the baby came?
