Are you taking any supplements?? I found that fenugreek gives my baby HORRIBLE gas. She'll wake up screaming so I've had to put gripe water in her bottles because the gas drops didn't do anything for her.

You're doing a great job!! I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax and take comfort in that.

First of all, don't doubt yourself, you're doing a fab job!

Is it possible that she's going through a wonder week? Maybe your doctor can advise you on things you can do if you both suspect something like colic or even reflux.

As far as your supply issues, have you checked out this guide for increasin your supply: http://www.hellobee.com/2011/09/28/increasing-your-milk-supply/ ?

We went through a phase similar to this around that age, although I don't think it was quite as bad as what you're describing. LO would be very fussy in the evening between 7 and 11 almost every single night. and nothing would make her happy. I dreaded it. It eventually started to get better, and I found that starting some sort of routine with her really helped her sleep and therefore her mood. I hope you get it figured out, and don't doubt yourself as a mommy. I know its hard when you don't know whats wrong with your baby, but it will get better, and you'll learn as you go. :) You're doing great.

oh and DON'T hesitate to take her to the pediatrician if you feel like you need to. Honestly, that's what they are there for. Does your peds office have a nurse's line? Ours is 24 hours and they are really great. A lot of times they just tell us to come in and we're always glad we did. I once went for diaper rash.... yes, I was THAT mom, bringing in her baby for a simple diaper rash, but it was a really bad rash (broke the skin) and I learned a LOT about treating and preventing it by talking to multiple nurses and the doctor. So if your mommy instinct is telling you to go, just go! Don't feel like you're being a paranoid mommy!

Have you thought about reflux? My LO spit up a lot and did the crying for hours thing too, especially if she was on her belly or back less than a half hour after she ate. It was awful. I seriously considered getting a job because I didn't think I could handle staying at home with her all day, just didn't think I was cut out for it. But we got her on meds and they helped a lot, and now she's grown out of it.

It could be a food intolerance. My son is intollerant of dairy and soy. It can take time to get really hurt and often the symptoms are worse at night.

Also, if it's hunger, try mixing a bottle with mostly breastmilk and just an ounce or so of formula. If she takes it, then the next bottle change up the ratio to be a little more formula.... until she will take a full bottle of formula. Sucks because it's more work, but this was the only way we could get Wagon Jr. to take formula.

Don't worry!!! you are doing GREAT!!!!!! :)

Is her belly hard and round? Wagon Jr. had terrible problems with gas. We had all kinds of methods to help him fart before he learned how to pass the gas himself. And we'd spend up to 30 mins burping him after feedings to make sure as much gas was out as possible.

Here was the method we used when he was really little:

Either sit them up in your lap and lean them forward so their stomach gets folded under,

Or lay them down on their back, raise their legs up 90 degrees so their feet are directly above their hips, and rotate around in a circle.

I had a friend try this with her fussy newborn boy and he let out 5 big farts then fell asleep for 2 hours! :)

So if it's gas... try that!! We used mylicon RELIGIOUSLY too. Love that stuff. Still have a manufacturer's coupon waiting for the next baby. :)

I really am such a unsure mother!

At the beginning we had feeding issues which propelled us to supplement.

I'm still convinced I'm just not producing enough breast milk for her. I'm trying to pump but without her nursing I literally get droplets. I don't know how I'm going to build up a stash before going back to work in 2 weeks. We supplement with formula and she hates it!! She literally whimpers through a feeding. But when I give her breast milk in a bottle she guzzles it. We have tried switching formula recently and it didn't really change.

She does a lot of inconsolable crying for HOURS so I thought it was gassiness. Looked up the symptoms and she has them! Called my ped and talked to a nurse and they reco'd mylicon drops. Worked great over the weekend and now we're back to inconsolable crying. I thought maybe it was something I ate so I scrutinized everything I eat.
I start thinking if she's colicky. She'll be 4 weeks on Saturday so it's the right time frame. She cries inconsolably for hours and typically at the end of day. Diaper changed, fed, burped and still cries. And of course because of our prior feeding issue I always think maybe she's hungry but when I offer even boob she doesn't take it. Which almost always help a crying fit.

Saturday & Sunday night she slept like a champ. Decent naps throughout the day then sleeping for 12hrs waking only to nurse.
Then Monday & Tuesday it all went to hell. Shell wake up around 9 fuss/cry till 1am then sleep for 3 hrs. Then wake up every hr. maybe she's not eating enough? But she pulls from the boob!

Is my baby colicky? Going through a growth spurt? Or just a baby? Please tell me I'm not the only one who's baby is being so fussy??

Do I just need to chill?! I can't help it but I do want to take her to the peds. But I don't want to be one of those that take her in all the time to find out she's just a fussy baby.
