We were on a weekend vacation with my visiting MIL which was already going terribly, it was at a waterpark and it thunderstormed the whole time, LO1 got a fever and we took her to urgent care to rule out strep (and she was one we went to the water park for!). Then the next day DH was in the shower and LO1 was having a massive tantrum so I walked her into the bedroom for a timeout, and shutting the door didn't notice that LO2 was screaming (because she had her fingers in the door by the hinge) since LO1 was already screaming. So I wasn't sure how much force I had put on her little fingers because I didn't stop right away and she was only about 12 months old. I felt horrible, cried, I'm sure my MIL thought I was a nutter. DH didn't believe me that I thought her fingers weren't broken so we went to urgent care with LO2 (did I mention I'm a doctor??) and the doc there thought she was fine but we got xrays anyhow which were fine. But we spent so much on those two urgent care trips and this wasted vacation. All with an audience of my MIL. It was so bad.

DS 2 fell head first into the wooden toy box and got stuck like that several times when he was old enough to pull himself up. (Around 6-7 months). DS 1 just watched him the whole time and didn't help. After the first time he learned to come get me or help!

@Sams Mom: I'm dying, no head!!! I've definitely picked up my children upside down too, but there was enough light that I noticed :)

@crazydoglady: Welcome to the club :) I've dropped my phone on their heads while they were asleep, kept trying to shove the wrong end of the bottle in their mouths, bonked their heads on doorframes, shut fingers in accordion closet doors, knocked them over/into furniture when they creep up behind me, let them roll off beds, you name it haha.

Probably the worst was when I didn't see a hornet's nest in their little playhouse outside and told my 18 mo to play in there instead of 'helping' in the garden. She got stung twice :(

@Sams Mom: omg I can’t. Not funny, but funny. “No head!”

Dh let DD run into the windowsill the day before a checkup. And I was the one who had to take her with a black eye. It was rough. I immediately went in there explaining we are NOT abusing her and please don’t call CPS on us! It didn’t help that my parents are both medical professionals and lectured us that if DD keeps having bruises we were going to have problems. DH is clumsy, toddlers are clumsy, and we chidlproofed as much as we can. The pediatrician actually laughed and said she knew we weren’t abusing her. 🤷🏽‍♀️. Let’s just say I did not take her out in public for days!

1)caught my 4 month old by ankles while I was trying to put my bra strap on in public!
2)pretty sure my oldest fell off the bed when she was couple of months. Didn’t know they could scooch at the young age.
3)I have eaten off all my babies 🤷🏻‍♀️
4)and my son has fallen down the stairs.
5)oh when my oldest was 8 months, she pulled herself up the side of crib and flipped over and landed on the floor

Both of my babies have tumbled down our ENTIRE stairwell as babies, they are wooden with no carpet or stair runner to soften the fall. They wailed SO loud with their final thud. I thought I had completely broken them. Happened twice!! Two different babies!! :crying:

@crazydoglady: I’m sorry, what a crappy unfortunate series of events. It’s not your fault. On the topic of young baby mistakes I cut DS’s finger the very first time I trimmed his nails and it bleed - a lot. He also fell out of our bed at 3 months 😞

Just today I realized that DS never had his 3 year old annual checkup. His birthday was 4 months ago!!! How did I discover this, you ask? Upon enrolling him in his new preschool after we moved out of state! I’m sooo grateful they let him in with out of date records. 😬

@crazydoglady: when my son was a couple weeks old, I was feeding him in the middle of the night, I laid him across my lap to rehook my nursing tank. I pick him up and put him to my shoulder to burp him. It's not working so I lean over to turn on the light so I can get him changed and try to burp him again... I'd been holding him upside down by the waist... For a couple minutes... Bouncing him lightly... And patting him between the shoulders? Instead of his bottom... 🤦🏼‍♀️

We all have moments early on, sounds like everything is ok with her. Don't beat yourself up.
