I survived my second full day solo with both kids! We did soft play, lunch out, then the museum for a nature exhibition. I have fitted a buggy board to the pram! It doesn't sound a lot, but being alone with both kids is a minefield of anxiety triggers for me.... and getting out and about with two is a logistical nightmare that I have avoided until now...... but I'm determined to get over this and do the SAH mummy thing until I go back to work at the end of the year (it will be my only chance to actually do it). So yeah, we survived! Two days in a row, soft play, two different museums, six meals and countless trips to the toilet....! Today I'm taking both kids to E's swimming lesson alone because DH is working (I would usually ask my inlaws to have the baby while I take E). I'm doing it :grin:

DH isn't feeling well and barely slept (man cold) so I did the morning routine solo. I even walked the kids to daycare - a first, DD on her own two feet - risky. We got to daycare when they opened at 7 and I got to work on time by 7:30. Win!

I wasn't a total bitch to my 3.5 year old today! I'm exhausted from taking care of the 4 week old and our last "home day" was pretty touch and go. But today we actually had some fun, made it to the library, ran some errands-
The real win was that I got the 4 week old to nap (albeit on his belly on a sheepskin....closely monitored, don't worry!) for 3 hours without me holding him/wearing him. It meant I got to eat dinner and do bedtime with my hands free which was a nice treat for me and big sister!

Learning to balance!

@hellobeeboston: Thank you for sharing! My two boys are 19 months apart and sometimes the only way I can manage to feed all three of us at once is to rely heavily on the iPad. I feel like it's seriously messing with my LO1's ability to eat well though. Maybe I need to just "lose" the iPad. It's just gone! I don't know where it is! Eat your carbs! :P

@Truth Bombs: you go girl!

My parenting win came this morning when I managed to get LO's big head in a costume that only had shoulder snaps on one side. Yes, I was legit worried all week I may not be able to pull off "baby Flash" for super hero day at daycare.

@Foodnerd81: omg we deleted YouTube from iPads and iPhones long ago! SO. BAD! I hated it... Our new problem was the Disney Jr app and an endless stream of terrible shows. Ugh. I had it.

@hellobeeboston: we had to cut screen time cold turkey and it was sooooooo hard. F-ing youtube. I've started letting her watch Daniel Tiger again, but I let her watch one video and she through another huge tantrum when it was over so nope. So much harder on me than her. She needs things with an end (like an episode of a show).

@sweetooth: same, re: lifeline.

We were away for the long weekend and the bad behavior was especially bad. We've been talking about limiting for a while so this weekend was the last straw. LO will be 4 in October and I feel like his mind was turning to mush. So. Got back and said the iPad was gone forever, made sure he knew it wasn't a punishment but that it was just gone. Now, I admit to more yelling due to LO harassing his almost 1 year old brother all week, but there was more playing and conversation and using his imagination. I did rely on it in the mornings as I'm on my own to get the boys fed and ready and myself out to work, but we did ok all week... We will see. I'm only 5 days in. Oh - and we didn't cut all screen time. I allowed one 20 minute show on Amazon prime each morning and night!

@hellobeeboston: Do tell! How on earth do you quit it? It's such a lifeline for me/us!

- - - - -

I think my parenting win for the day was managing to get the kids out of the house twice today. Once in the morning to continue our "find a new park everyday" quest. And then once more in the afternoon for my sanity and the necessary nap that LO1 refuses to take. I swear, naps in the car could be the end of me...until potty training, and big boy bed, and...

I feel like I have a win this week. We quit the iPad cold turkey on Monday, and I swear to God I notice a big difference. It's been more challenging for me to be honest, but I think it's good. It's gone for a long long time.

I'm going to throw back to thursday instead :silly: Yesterday I had to stay home from work with my sick infant. While home for the day I managed to play with and take care of said sick infant (which included a whole lot of nursing), bring big sister to preschool and have a really nice breakfast with her at her school, clean the kitchen including loading running and unloading the dishwasher, do six loads of laundry and make the beds back up after sheet washing, pick sister up from school and feed her and get her ready for soccer practice, catch up with some girlfriends, AND managed to get a half day's worth of work done. #boom Sometimes I think I could rule the world if i just had one day a week at home.

We survived and they are in bed and I have a glass of wine at my side. That's enough for today! (We closed on our house, dropped the 3 year old at a friends house so we could go work on the house with the baby, forgot the pack and play so she had to nap on a sheet on the floor in a play yard/ gate set up, then I had to drive them both home during rush hour with the baby screaming the entire way home...) So yes. I survived and that's a win.

Do you have a parenting win for today? Can be big or small!

It's 8:20pm here, and both of my kids are in bed. I'm solo tonight, so this is so amazing...now I'm going to sit and read! My LO's were also AWESOME at my 4 year olds well child check today, any good behavior out in public is a win for me.
