I don't have kids yet (pregnant with #1), but my brother and I are 16 months apart and I loved (for the most part) having a sibling so close in age to me! We did almost EVERYTHING together and I always had someone to play with growing up! Now that we're both adults, we're as close as ever! I'm hoping to to do the same with my children and have them be close in age.

We only have one, but my brother and I are 15 months apart. We did everything together as kids. My brother and I aren't really that close anymore. My mom did a great job with the two of us. Many people thought my brother and I were twins when we were little .

Charlie and Olive are 22 months apart, and it's been great! I mean, day to day it's been hard on both of us as parents because it's a lot of work. But we think of it like ripping off a bandaid... once it's off, then all the pain is done! (We're not planning on more kids.) That's how we're starting to feel now that Olive is getting a bit older.

As for the kids, they absolutely love being so close together. Olive lights up like a Christmas tree when Charlie walks into a room... and Charlie adores her so much. It's been great for both of them!

@chopsuey119: I think I've mentioned it on here before, but I had a major meltdown at about 26/27 weeks with my second pregnancy. I told my husband it was a huge mistake, how could we do this to our daughter, etc... And he basically told me to suck it up because it was too late to change our minds. :) And once DS got here, I was so relieved. It's not nearly as big of a transition as I thought it would be, and within 10 weeks of DS's birth we were all settled in to a new routine. It seemed like we had always had DS, and he has added so much joy into our lives, I couldn't imagine life without him!

It's much worse when you're anticipating the changes and worrying about the future than when you're actually in the moment dealing with your new life. I promise, your DD will love having a little brother, and within a few months you'll forget what it's like to have only one baby. :)

I know I am not really the same as two under two but I do have some experience with lots of babies. To be honest there were definetly momments where I thought life with kids so close together was awful but those are the really bad days which are not frequent. Now my boys are very close and I am glad they have each other. They are also very good with my daughter. (The twins are 2 years and three months older than her and my oldest is two weeks shy of three years older than her). I think in general they are happy and I don't feel guilty about our family choices.

You will adjust to having two and you will be great!!!

Mine are 23 months apart. I don't regret it, although I think it's more work when they're little. They already play well together though, and I think they'll share toys and experiences much more easily by being close together. And yes I had two in diapers and two in high chairs for a bit, but I will be done with baby things that much faster and get on with it (God willing that I don't have a third!).

I wanted to be done with the baby stage, which is adorably exhausting, so I could get on with building my freelance career without having to take major time off once I get rolling.

@Honeybee: that is really great advice. I felt guilty even though my son was 3 years old! But I agree, it's easier for them to adjust when their close together.

DD and DS are also 21 months. Actually, I think this is a great age difference, and if we have a third, we'll shoot for a similar gap. Even though you will have an adjustment period, very soon you'll feel like you've always been a family of four, and you won't even remember life before your DS! One thing that's really nice about having the kids so close together is that the older one doesn't really remember life as an only and adjusts a lot more quickly.

At the end of my second pregnancy I was so worried about having #2 and I felt so guilty that I was taking so much away from DD. But remember that your daughter is gaining so much more than she's losing. After a few weeks, she won't even remember life before your DS, but you're giving her a close sibling and playmate for the rest of her life! :)

ETA: Actually, I think there are a few of us with the 21 month age gap. Mrs. Jacks for sure. Maybe Mr./Mrs. Bee and I think Mrs. Superhero is right around 2 years, too.

Do you ever wish you waited longer before having #2?

I feel like my Lo's still a baby and I feel bad that she's only going to be 21 months old when we introduce her baby brother into her life.. :T
