A friend of mine recommends a book about elimination communication... It's called EC : simplified and diaper free baby. I never tried it but she started potty training her son at 4mos.

@pastemoo: it's good!! He's able to hold it much better which is nice. No longer going every half hour, lol. The onlyproblem we have is if we're out to eat he refuses to leave his food, lol, so that can be a struggle.

I think with the younger kids you have to offer a lot. My son asks to poop--but he has had issues pooping in his diaper since he was 8 months old. He is 17 months old and if I offer the potty sometimes he goes and sometimes not.

The neighbor's daughter is also just potty training (a bit older as she has some developmental delays) and she asks to go about half the time and the other half the time her mom offers it.

I think offering frequently is something you have to do for a while, especially if you are out doing something "fun" because he won't want to take a potty break.

So, this post was 2 months ago, how is it going now @Navy_Mommy: ?

I'd say as long as he is happy to try, there's no harm in offering frequently.

wow! How did you know he was ready?
I don't think my 16.5 month is ready yet. We keep her potty next to the tub and she is curious about it and sits on it. But we're not pushing it yet.

How often do you offer the potty?

W is just over 17 months old. We went a few weeks where as long as I offered the potty regularly the only dirty diaper he would have was while he was sleeping so I decided to try the 3 day method (turned out to be 2 and a half days, lol).

We're on day three. Day one we had two accidents. Day two he almost had an accident but we caught it, and day three has started off really well with a big pee as soon as I put him on the potty.

But he still doesn't ask to use the potty, I just offer it a lot.

So how often do you actually offer the potty to your early potty learner?
