When I was on mat leave my DD went part time to daycare 3x a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). It was a lifesaver and I liked T-W-Th because it let dd get in a groove and still allowed us to spend long weekends together.

I work twenty hours a week and my kids (4y and 22m) do 8-5 on Monday and Tuesday then 8-3 on Thursdays. I love that Thursday is a shorter day for all of us and I also love having Wednesdays off!

I would do TWTh - that way you don't pay for a lot of Monday holidays that won't get used and you can keep your existing nanny.

My daughter goes part time (Tue, Wed, Thu). I find that having the daycare days be back to back is much better for her. She went Tue, Thu, Fri for about a month at first and it really was confusing for her. She was over 1 when she started this routine and she is just now under 2.

My LO is in daycare MWF because when I started my job that was the only scheduled offered, and her daycare doesn't do parttime but we found a buddy to split the days with and now even though my work is more flexible her buddy isn't! Anyhow, while I'm definitely the type that would rather have all my work days together, I think LO benefits from the. Deals and sometimes has a hard time after a long weekend or vacation getting back into the school groove. I also appreciate not having to single SAH parent for more than a day at a time! I like being parttime but I also could not cut it as a full time SAHM so this works well for me.

We increased my older son from 2-3 days of daycare when he moved into the 3s classroom. He goes mon, wed, fri. I like 3 days a week and it helps to have a routine. I'm actually considering putting him in 4 days a week to build up to kindergarten, but we'll see. We just outside NYC and daycare costs are nuts!

I would do TWTh and treat Friday-Sunday as your weekend together to do classes or playgroups together. It will give the kid consistency and give you time to get your junk done since you solo parent so much. My kid needs to nap so 1pm would be too late of a dismissal for me. Nanny day can remain as-is.

My nephew goes to daycare in Mondays and Fridays and Grandma care on Wednesdays. He is 2. Daycare is miserable for him because he didn't start until he was 18 months and Monday and Friday just aren't consistent enough for him. This is simply my observations, but I think he would be better off if he went back-to-back days . At the very minimum, every other day would be better. First and last weekday is really rough on him, he never has a chance to get the daycare routine.

I put DD1 in at 10 mo and we ended up choosing 3 days back to back for better consistency. But for an older toddler they may adjust easier?

i would figure out what you want to use that daycare time for! if it's to run errands, etc, i would do hours every other day (not two days in a row), but that's if you can choose the days! one daycare/school we had, we could choose any combo of days, but where we live now, the choices are M-F, MWF, or TThurs. i WAH PT, so i pick TThurs full days to get my work done and because i hate working monday/fridays. i also solo often since DH is a firefighter.

I'm thinking about enrolling my LO in a 2s program for the fall. She'll be about 2.5 when she starts. Our current set up is nanny mondays and some Wednesdays, and I SAHM Tues-Fri. I'll also add that I generally am solo-parenting monday through friday, and sometimes on weekends (this one for instance, so at times I go several weeks solo parenting. Fun stuff. But I'll keep my griping to a minimum as DH's job allows me to stay home).

So part time day care. I'm thinking 2 or three days a week. I live in NYC so it is $$$$$$. If you had your choice of schedule, would you have your LO go back to back days or spread it out? 2 or three days? Do you think there is a difference at all or am I overthinking it? I also have the option to add on an hour of lunch so she goes 9-1. I'd like to keep our nanny while I'm working (on mondays) so my possible daycare days would be Tues-Fri.
