@MamaChin: I would use her to give you a break--- she can have scheduled times of the day, like 10:00-12:30 every day (for example) that she takes to the park or to a class or somewhere and then gives lunch to LO 1 and gets him down for a nap. During that time, you can focus on LO 2 and when LO 2 is napping, so you can take a shower, exercise, whatever. Then in the afternoon (say, 1pm- 2:30) she can care for LO 2 while you focus on LO 1.

Well, a nanny that isn't doing kid related stuff is a housekeeper in my eyes.

Do you need help with the kids or with cleaning the house?

I think someone helping you out in all areas would be nice. I think her duties should be primarily with the kids since she is a nanny and not a maid. Doing activities in and out of the house with your oldest, doing kids laundry, helping keep the kids areas clean etc.

My mom was a SAHM and had a full time nanny...she told me that she never let the nanny do any kid related stuff (she wanted to do it all), so the nanny cooked and cleaned and did laundry while my mom attended to my brother and I (18 months apart).

When I think of nanny, i think of someone who does kid-related tasks, though, not just a house cleaner/chef. Maybe she can take your older one out sometimes to a museum or park!

With a 14 month old and a new one on the way in March, DH and I are considering getting some part-time help. My cousin's live-in is available from 9:30-2:30 for us since her kids are in school, we'd prefer to use her since she's been with the family for a long time and is trusted.

If you have help part-time, what are their duties? Light cleaning? Feeding/playing with the older kid? I am a control freak so I want to make all LO1's meals and play with him and tend to all LO2's needs as well - help me delegate!
