<description>&#60;p&#62;i guess it depends on whether or not you want to have a relationship with them.  i usually try to invite family, because for me, it feels like the right thing to do, but that wouldn't be true for everyone.  i invited my grandmother to my wedding because i really wanted her to be there, but i had little hope that she would come, and she didn't.  i felt better knowing i had made to gesture of inviting her.
