@tysonja: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: we will likely have about 50 people so in trying to make it low maintenance. Ribbon can get really expensive so that's why I didn't want to go with that... And same with the mask/hat suggestion.

@NerdBee: oooh awesome idea! I like that! It would be hard to find pine cones in the dead of winter but my parents have pine trees I could cut some sprigs.

What about a party decoration that could do double duty? Like a party hat tied with ribbon or a woodland animal face mask tied with ribbon.

i've always liked the ribbon/torn fabric strips/streamers tied to the backs of chairs thing. i like the 'tree' idea too mentioned above, using boughs of evergreen if you can get some for free around where you live! you don't have to tie that many ribbons too, i've seen where there is just a small bunch tired to the centre back of the chair. :)

Since your theme is woodland animals, would it make sense for the chairs to be trees? Maybe you could tie a ribbon around the back of the chair with some pine cones and a sprig of evergreen.

@Bao: Yes. I designed woodland animals with a chevron background, I would cut those into a circle and tie to the chair...

@Mrs. Pen: when you say a picture cut into the shape of a circle, do you mean something with like a woodland animal on it...then cut out? I'm trying to think of what your going for ;) Chair covers/decorations are not my expertise. lol

For my wedding we made pinwheels for each chair. It was pretty, and fun but VERY time consuming and after the wedding we had no idea what to do with all the pinwheels. Felt like such a waste to throw them away...

So I'm trying to decide what to do on the back of the rental chairs for Cobi's party... ideas??

I don't have a picture for it cause it was just an idea I had - but what about a picture cut in the shape of a circle tied to the backs of each chair??

OR maybe a mini pennant banner? either fabric or paper.

Extra points for pictures ;) Thanks!

ETA: here is a picture of the chairs we get with the rental:
