@HappyBaker: Sure! He's had cupcakes, cake, cookies (not chocolate chip), muffins, rolls, biscuits, Cheez-its (original), and Goldfish (whole wheat cheddar). Our rules for baked milk was that he could have homemade baked products that contained less than 1/6 cup milk per serving, and he could have store bought baked products as long as milk WASN'T one of the first two ingredients.

@Adira: just wondering if you could share what other baked milk foods you've tried? We just confirmed DS's (13 months) milk allergy but the allergist said we should try baked milk since he only had GI symptoms when he was on milk-based formula.

@pinkcupcake: Sorry to cause any confusion. By milk, I meant milk alternative. My LO drinks almond milk.

@pinkcupcake: I think @yin: probably meant her LO drinks an alternative milk, like hemp milk or something. People can react differently to different forms of milk, but it's usually that someone might be okay with powdered or baked milk and NOT the more "fresh" form (milk, butter, yogurt, etc.).

@pinkcupcake: not @yin: but definitely. DH is lactose intolerant and cannot handle milk or ice cream. But can handle cheese in small doses.

DD1 can't drink milk but can have pretty much everything else that has dairy. I only have given her ice cream in small quantities, so far OK!

@yin: do people have different reactions to milk depending on its form? Just curious because it sounds like drinking milk is okay for your LO but milk cooked in food isn't?

Just a thought, you could do vegan donuts with him even though it's not part of the milk challenge. I love good vegan donuts way better than some regular ones.

Some places add milk powder to their dough. Small bites are okay with my LO. His mouth starts to itch and bother him after a while, but drinking a glass of water or milk usually makes him feel better.

@MamaG: 3/8 cup in 18 donuts is definitely well under the limit! I'm excited to try this now!!!

@regberadaisy: Yeah, Xander's not allowed to have frosting, so we wouldn't do that anyway, but maybe I can get him a plain munchkin and just see what happens! Looking at the ingredients listed on Dunkin's website, dairy isn't one of the first two ingredients (our other random stipulation), so maybe it would be safe!

I would probably start with a plain donut to start. no frosting and no powder. Those would all add to the dairy amount.

They certainly have milk in them. I just found a recipe that makes 18 donuts and it had 3/8 c milk. I'm sure the amount would vary, but I would think it would be below your limit.

I have no idea what's in donuts, but anyone have a clue as to whether Xander can have them or not (not with frosting or cream, of course)?? He's allowed to have baked items that contain no more than 1/6 cup milk per serving...
