@Danizaur: I am so sorry about all of this. I had to restrict access to my FB for certain people because of snarkiness. Why can't family be nice?

@MrsMcD: lol sadly we all avoid her as much as possible. All because of the same reason. We feel to bad to cut her out of our lives completely. Plus you have those rare, nice moments where you get a genuine response and enjoy her company.

Rare. But there.

@Danizaur: Maybe its time to start avoiding Granny! Oh no... I'm a bad one to give advise on this. I'm an advocate for cutting people out of my life. Sorry!

@tinyperson: I know right? Both of us have a huge family, full time jobs, a dog, friends, soon to be baby, and stuff to do! We don't have time to be people pleasers. People don't understand.

@MrsMcD: I ignore it as much as possible. And she won't take no for an answer about the babysitting without saying we purposefully don't want her to watch the child out of spite. Which is not true. But anymore it's turning into spite!!

It's not all on Facebook. Every time I see/talk to her it's the same thing.

Every time we see my grandparents at church, the only thing I hear from them (spoken to LO not me) is "when are you coming to see us? We never get to see you." Sigh. We try to get up there, but LO goes to bed early and I don't drive, so can't go on weekdays. Saturdays are really our only family days and our only real day to get things done. Sundays are busy with church and her schedule is disrupted, so we need to go home for a nap after. I wish they understood!

I also second the thought of ditching Facebook. I have never had one for so many reasons. But FB allows people to say lame things like your grandmother is saying. Can you just ignore her? And as for her watching your LO, I would wait until you absolutely need to say something, and then just be kind of upfront, like "Hey granny, we have other plans in mind for LO's babysitting. Thanks, though."

*sigh* my grandmother is the same way. Every time I spend time with her I leave with hurt feelings. Now that my LO is here, she wants to see us all the time.

I think some Grandma's specialize in passive-aggression. :-/ I think those comments on FB are super inappropriate. Something like would personally spur me to say something to her about it. I know everyone is different though!! So sorry you and your family is experiencing that!

@Danizaur: You could limit her access to your profile. Put her on a restricted list. Make it impossible for her to comment on your FB page. My MIL has very little access to my profile for a variety of reasons.

Hah! Love the pic...it's exactly how I feel about my mom the majority of the time. I hate passive aggressive BS. I ended up having to defriend her on FB because she would try to start fights based on my posts. Why does family have to be so aggravating!?

When she told me about the crib thing, I tried to be genuinely appreciative (I was at first) but make it VERY clear I may want to purchase my own. We had already picked a set we liked. But she wouldn't have it. Ugh!!

All.the.time. When it is really ridic, I just call them out on it. Because I don't care how old you are, BS is still BS! I have found that the more they *get away* with it, the more they do it. I try my hardest to diffuse with kindness, but I diffuse when I can!

Does anyone else have one of those family members that just makes snide, passive aggressive comments all the time?

My grandmother hasn't let it go that my sister didn't choose her to watch her daughter when she went back to work. Instead of driving 20 minutes (literally) out of the way to my grandmothers house, she chose a close family friend who has a babysitting service for a really good rate close to her house.
She constantly makes comments on FACEBOOK like "Waiting on baby (name) to come over. Got a whole nursery made up and she's all that's missing."
"Bought (baby) some new toys. All that's missing is (baby). Wish (sister) would bring her over every now and then."

Then, now that I'm pregnant, she makes comments like "Oh, you don't want to buy any bedding from a store. I'll make it for you."
"I have a crib already so you don't have to buy one. You can use the color for whatever gender and buy matching furniture later." Not the fact that I don't appreciate the offer but she WONT accept the fact that I may want to buy my own!!

And she keeps reminding me that she is expecting me to let her watch my child when I go back to work. Um no. Lets just say she watched us as children and I would rather not put my child through the same thing.

I've just had one comment to many and needed to vent. I love my grandma but GEEZ. Maybe if she just came out and politely asked instead of making rude comments we would come around more!! We always go visit at least once a month. Anyone else in a similar situation?

I just feel like this:
