@yin: I'd probably turn the khaki pants into shorts.

@MrsSRS: I was going to suggest this too - cute and acceptable for little kids' jeans.

@youboots: And when it's colored if some stitches are wonky you can just pretend it's childish whimsy...

LO rocks the hole in the knee grungy look because I'm too lazy to do anything about it. I have no idea how to salvage khaki pants. Patching up doesn't look as good as with jeans.

@MrsSRS: This is exactaly what I would do. It's easy to find colored denim at a fabric store.

If you can hand stich I vote cut out some fun shapes and use some bright thread as well.

Iron on are easy but they don't stay on through many washes. Denim is pricy, so I'd buy a pair of adult jeans from a thrift store and cut a cute shape like a heart and use a bright contrasting thread to hand stitch the patches onto the jeans. Maybe use some iron on tape to hold them in place first. If they're not going to be subtle, may as well be bold. Even better if you can find colored jeans to cut up!

@regberadaisy: Yea, they should have them for sure, but even places like Walmart might sell them.

They make iron on patches in a denim color that are probably the easiest.

DD1 has always jumped on her knees. No amount of coercing or threats will stop her. I'm afraid she's going to ruin her kneecaps before she's even a teenager! But that's another matter. :/

Anyway, because of this she constantly wears holes into the knees of her jeans. I'm tired of buying new jeans like crazy because there's holes in the knees!

Anyone else patch holes on knees? What do I use to patch them? What's the best way to do this?

Thanks!
